JOB PURPOSE: To establish published Dealer Net prices for all newly released CAT parts by gathering and analyzing confidential engineering, purchasing and cost accounting data, properly classifying the information, correctly applying the approved formula, and providing a monthly review of negative margin parts for proposal to the appropriate product analyst. The process enables Caterpillar customers, through the dealer network, to purchase replacement parts by supporting the parts invoicing systems, parts ordering systems, and other internal systems. Coupled with the negative margin review, these processes provide a vital and profitable revenue stream for the company .
Typical internal customers include various contacts throughout Caterpillar worldwide and its' subsidiaries. External contacts include various customers and vendors throughout worldwide markets. The technician is challenged to quickly and correctly identify problems. The incumbent generally resolves issues by following departmental guidelines or applying a solution that worked in the past. Impacts key quality goals including Customer Satisfaction, Continuous
Improvement, Timeliness, Accuracy, Efficiency, Cost Savings, Process Quality, etc.
Limited travel required (Less than 5% of working time).
*Research current corporate systems (EDS, Purchasing, Accounting, etc.) to gather and analyze data needed to make the correct pricing classification. This includes working with subsidiary Accounting and Purchasing Departments to obtain costs of expanded product line parts and requires a functional knowledge of currency exchange rates
*Review and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications, and when needed obtains data not shown on prints or costs not in corporate systems by contacting the appropriate Engineering, Manufacturing, Accounting, Purchasing, and Logistics personnel
*Analyze and judge data to properly assign classification
*Calculate and enter the Dealer Net price into the Parts Pricing Information and Distribution System (PPIDS) based on the analysis. After publication, these prices become available to the worldwide dealer network
*Additionally, when called upon, the technician must immediately establish a price for emergency (machine down) situations so the part may be invoiced and shipped from parts distribution facilities
*Review and revise current published Dealer Net prices when more current or previously unavailable information becomes available
*Review and analyze engineering change notices to determine if re-pricing is warranted and re-calculate the proposed price
*Review parts and confirm classification and formula price for negative margin parts
*Provide interpretation and problem solving advice to others inside and outside of the department
