As a Line Maintenance Services Chief Inspector, you will act as the focal point for the Repair Station, local FAA Flight Standards District Office, as well as all required regulatory bodies as required, which includes the scheduling, preparation, hosting and close-out / follow-up of any open actions / findings / observations, and provide mentorship the for LMS inspectors in resolving shop floor inspection related issues.
Responsibilities / Accountabilities
You will serve as the SME during inspections to the facility by any regulatory and or customer representatives, and the follow up of resolution to their findings/concerns.
You will ensure accuracy of manuals through regular reviews, which includes ensuring alignment to the repair station changing business processes and procedures. This involves regular revisions to be communicated to the team, as well as regulatory bodies as required.
You will be responsible for ensuring there is robust standard work in place for issuance of work-packages in accordance with customers provided work-scopes. This includes the standard work for quality over-sight of task in process (quality clinic; quality control; in-process findings; etc...).
In addition, Quality needs to ensure proper closure, accuracy of final product (including completion of all requirements) prior to issuance of final paperwork to customer / final archiving of repair station records
You will handle, revise, and audit our training manual to ensure alignment with the operations training program.
You'll oversee training events that support the training objectives and regulatory requirements of the repair station.
You will conduct regular audits and reviews of the suppliers to ensure compliance with established supplier expectations.
You'll provide mentorship to suppliers to make sure that services provided are satisfactory to our requirements.
You will oversee DIVE investigations and utilize RRCA tools to determine root cause of in process findings and identified turnbacks. Guide DIVE teams to establish corrective and preventative actions to eliminate systematic issues. Communicate findings of investigations to the staff, as well as others at different levels in the organization.
Environment, Health & Safety
You will also work closely with operations staff to establish EH&S standard methodologies to be implemented in the shop. Develop and incorporate safety procedures that ensure the safety of people in the workplace.
You'll stay informed of global EH&S initiatives and communicate these to the team.
Plan regular EHS review meetings internally to address EHS related turnbacks and plan internal EHS initiatives.
Monitor pollution and waste generated by repair station and ensure waste management practices are in compliance with UTC/Pratt & Whitney and state/federal waste management requirements.
Research pollution prevention strategies to implement reduction of waste stream levels.
Required minimum 2 years of experience working w/FAA and EASA, FAR Part 65, FAA mechanic certificate or repairman certificate with experience working within a FAR Part 145 Repair Station.
A minimum of 3 years of experience analyzing engineering designs for inspectibility and developing/optimizing efficient inspection plans and conducting aerospace inspections.
Minimum 3 years' experience of interpreting engineering drawings/specs
2 years' experience using SAP or Solumina a plus.
Excellent leadership, communication, problem solving, analytical, prioritization and multi-tasking skills
Ability to work with all levels of management and communicate effectively with peers, customers and clients as well as the ability to collaborate with teams preferred.
Working knowledge of continuous improvement principles (e.g. lean mfg, ACE, QCPC) Ability to drive obligations to closure w/precision to benefit the organization and every constituent a huge plus
3 years' experience in a high energy, dynamic field service environment, ability to adapt to changing business conditions
3 years' experience returning hardware back to service strongly preferred.
BA/BS degree w/4-7+ years' experience
MA/MS degree w/2-5+ years' experience
PhD degree w/0-2+ years' experience
