TASK DESCRIPTION:

Aircraft Worker (23080): The Aircraft Worker makes repairs to aircraft following orders of higher grade worker, assists in troubleshooting malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems, removes, cleans, reinstalls, or replaces defective parts, accessories, and components such as worn gaskets, couplings, and fittings, bad actuators, accumulators, gauges, sections of corroded fuel and oil lines, This worker may supervise the jacking and towing of aircraft, makes adjustments and settings such as cable tension and seat movement settings and adjustments; obtains standard parts such as fuel and oil line connections and fittings, cable linkage, and spark plug cables and harnesses by referring to parts manuals and by making comparisons with samples, may perform pre-flight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections, enter in the maintenance records description of the work performed, and services engines and aircraft components at line station making repairs, short of overhaul required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition.  

Task Requirements:


  1. Assists in aircraft maintenance functions of the Line, Corrosion Control, Tool Room and Aircraft Organizational Level maintenance and flight testing support

  2. Scheduled and unscheduled maintenance support for assigned H-60 aircraft

  3. Performs inspection, disassembly, repair, servicing, TD compliance, modification, assembly, surface finish removal, corrosion control, preservation/depreservation services

  4. Maintain aircraft and aeronautical equipment to continuously support the assigned SAR readiness posture outlined in in the activities SAR Plan and daily flight schedule.

  5. Aircraft maintenance action documentation via logs, records, forms, and electronic means

  6. Assists in troubleshooting malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems

  7. Use hand tools, power tools, machines, specific and general aviation test measurement and diagnostic equipment, and sets kits and outfits (SKO).

  8. Read and interpret manufacturers' maintenance manuals, military technical manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, blueprints, manufacturers’ drawings, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components

  9. Flight Line operations/functions at detachment locations as required

  10. Confined space operations to include fuel cell entry

  11. Support Equipment (SE) operation and inspections

  12. Aircraft launch and recovery

  13. Aircraft inspections

  14. Aircraft movement

  15. Support services

  16. Corrosion Control

  17. Preservation and depreservation

  18. General aircraft maintenance

  19. Perform general housekeeping and organization of workstation(s), shop(s), maintenance facility to provide a clean, safe, and FOD free environment

  20. Perform shift work and/or overtime as required

  21. Other duties as assigned

Preferred Personnel Qualifications:


  1. Individual (I) Aircraft Maintenance Qualification

  2. Four or more years rotary wing maintenance experience

  3. Make Aircraft, Engine, ALSS, Egress, Armament and Support Equipment Logbooks and Records entries

  4. Vibration Analysis Operator / Interpreter

  5. Tire and Wheel

  6. Hydraulic Contamination

Minimum (Basic) Personnel Qualifications:


  1. Must be able to work 1st, 2nd, 3rd or weekend shift as required to support SAR mission

  2. Must be able to work flexible schedule Mon-Fri or Sun-Thur as required

  3. Must be able to provide maintenance support for actual SAR missions within two hours of notification for weekends, holidays, and before/after normal services hours as required

  4. Shall be able to travel in support of detachment operations as required

  5. Must be eligible for a Common Access Card (CAC)

  6. Satisfactory completion National Agency Check Local Records Check and Credit (NACLC) or Access National Agency Check with written Inquires (ANACI) resulting in eligibility for a SECRET clearance shall be required of employees assigned to perform maintenance on MH-60S Avionics Systems

  7. Must be able to climb ladders, raised platforms, and aircraft

  8. Must be able to pass employment physicals

  9. Must be able to use hand and power tools

  10. Must have dexterity to handle small parts
