Job Description:

Are you interested in communications, planning, and organizing? Are you currently enrolled in a communications, or business program and seeking a summer internship to work on real world projects? If so, you may have the skills needed to gain some real world experience on a novel research project working on an interesting, challenging problem set.

Applied Research Associates, Inc. is seeking an undergraduate intern to support the BioGears® project (www.biogearsengine.com). We are actively seeking communications and digital media intern who will work on a team to aid in technical conference planning, digital media design and development, and communications with the BioGears user community.

Our development approach fosters communication and collaboration across multiple scientific disciplines, and provides all members of our teams opportunities to contribute creatively to our projects. The successful applicant must have exceptional skills in oral and written communication, organization, and planning. Our interns are valued members of the team and are tasked with work that is critical to the success of our projects.

Qualifications:


  • Undergraduate major in communications, business, or related field

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools

  • Strong desire to contribute meaningfully to a team by publicizing technical work

  • Ability to demonstrate professionalism that will contribute to fostering a positive work environment

Responsibilities


  • Contribute to the development of key messaging for BioGears®

  • Aid in the development and distribution of BioGears® print and electronic media

  • Aid in planning the BioGears® conference by developing materials, and coordinating conference events

  • Work with the BioGears® Project Manager (PM) to serve as a conference planning liaison to BioGears® community of current and potential users

  • Work with the BioGears® PM to identify and contact researchers and government personnel regarding participation in the BioGears® conference
