Overview

This position of Buyer will support sourcing activities, value analysis, bidding, negotiation, selection, approval, purchase, receipt and quality of all procurement materials and services as assigned by Purchasing Manager. The Buyer will be a professional individual highly motivated who can function within a team atmosphere and utilize strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Must have the ability to prioritize, multitask, and make sound decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Review purchase requisitions for clarity, compliance to policy, detail, and completeness
  • Create and place purchase orders with approved vendors for fulfillment
  • Oversee timely delivery of goods and services to meet demand and project requirements
  • Maintain computerized purchasing records using Oracle E-Procurement
  • Work with existing supply base to continually improve their overall performance; delivery, quality, lead-time and customer service
  • Responsible for day-to-day management of suppliers to ensure on-time delivery and quality of purchased items
  • Conduct routine supplier business reviews, evaluating supplier performance and compliance
  • Assist Purchasing Manager with quote analysis and cost savings opportunities
  • Assist internal customers in sourcing and pricing decisions
  • Work with receiving staff to confirm accuracy of deliveries
  • Assist with the management of the computerized inventory database by monitoring and adjusting reorder points to maximize quality and service level while minimizing inventory
  • Help resolve availability issues, vendor non-conformances, quality issues, returns and invoice discrepancies.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of directly related experience; additional years of experience may be accepted in lieu of degree
  • Well organized, detail oriented and able to work independently in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent negotiation, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Experience with Oracle ERP preferred
  • Experience within an FDA regulated, medical device manufacturing environment highly desirable
