Who you are

A masterful storyteller: Able to deliver compelling stories that resonate and connect with the needs of the audience while setting us apart from the competition. Able to take insights from market research and easily weave the consumer/user experience into the story. Naturally thinks at multiple levels for various audience styles. Your writing process is thoughtful and relentlessly focused on connecting with the reader. You have a self-motivated process to research for content and complete assignments by deadlines.

A proven, creative and versatile writer who also has an eye for design—able to communicate stories in both words and pictures (graphics diagrams, etc). Able to bring an idea to life on a napkin or white board, use data and insights to influence buy-in, and share the vision and strategy for a product with everyone involved in the purchase decision-making process.

A strategic and creative leader, willing and able to mentor others. A strong contributor in the creative process, able to collaborate with strategists, designers and marketers to create competitive and compelling stories around technology, products and services. A high performing producer, able to embody those stories in the full range of marketing and communications assets, moving fluently between high-level narratives and powerful proofpoints to resonate with different audiences.

What you will do

Set the standard for effective product storytelling for the organization; creating tools that help build audience’s understanding of a story and ability to retell it to others (both internal and external.)

Define and drive a consistent approach to product messaging, turning complex technologies and detailed feature sets into simple, effective, direct messages that resonate with the needs and goals of the audience.  

Work with cross-functional teams to cascade the stories across a range of communications, with special attention to:

  • Headlines and other short form copy

  • Sales tools

  • Web content (words and images)

  • Effective, dynamic and well thought out presentations

  • White papers and other downloadable content

  • Video scripts and soundtrack

Demonstrate extraordinary teamwork and foster collaboration within the Product Marketing team, as well as with key partners in Product Management, Sales and Corporate Marketing

Your background includes:

  • Excellent creative skills, able to tell stories and communicate ideas clearly and concisely in both words and pictures. Able to demonstrate through a strong portfolio of work.

  • 7+ years experience in marketing, including creative agency and corporate experience

  • 3+ years in a management or leadership role

  • Bachelor's in journalism, advertising or marketing communications with strong technology

  • Experience positioning technical products to both technical and business buyers

  • Experience working with consumer research and applying those insights to story development 

  • Track record of excellent internal and external stakeholder management at all levels. 

  • Nice to have: Experience operating in a global environment working with teams from a mix of cultures.
