Flint Hills Resources, LLC operates oil refineries and chemical plants across North America. Our Port Arthur, TX chemical plant is hiring a Turnaround Process Project Manager to join our team.
Our Port Arthur chemical plant, located on nearly 210 acres off Savannah Avenue and Highway 73, is a U.S. producer of ethylene, propylene, and cyclohexane, which are basic chemical building blocks used to manufacture a variety of products such as medical devices, automotive parts, carpeting, and appliance components.
The Turnaround Process Project Manager will support our Olefins & Polymers (O&P) business, leading turnarounds for our Port Arthur and Houston chemical plants. This role will drive processes, look for improvement opportunities and network within FHR Maintenance Services and other FHR Turnaround networks to drive innovation and transformation of the O&P efforts.
Additional responsibilities include:

  • Managing turnarounds for all units including furnace rebuilds and tank overhauls with adherence to the turnaround process

  • Managing turnarounds safely and within regulatory compliance

  • Managing turnarounds efficiently as measured by total cost, schedule, compliance, and reliability performance

  • Ensuring that turnaround best practices are being evaluated and used if warranted

  • Ensuring alignment of turnaround objectives by communicating necessary activities and/or opportunities to owners and sponsors

  • Ensuring the development of turnaround estimates and detailed turnaround plans

  • Developing turnaround milestones and detailed schedules

  • Managing constructability and construction execution activities

  • Utilizing and providing feedback to continually improve the turnaround process and tools

  • Planning and executing safe and efficient turnarounds from scope development through completion

Basic Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent education

  • 5+ years of chemical processing or refining experience

  • 5+ years of turnaround experience as a leader of medium to large complexity turnarounds


  • Experience working in a significant role in at least 5 major turnarounds

  • 5+ years of hands on field experience in turnaround execution, project management, field construction or related activities

  • Certified Project Manager (CPM)

Physical Requirements:

  • Climbing heights exceeding 200 feet

  • Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs occasionally and 30 lbs frequently

  • Working in confined spaces

  • Working in adverse outdoor weather conditions

  • Walking and standing frequently

  • Wearing a respirator and other Personal Protective Equipment
