Job Summary

The Quality Manager is responsible for managing the quality program and providing work direction for the quality assurance department.  Ensures that purchased material, final product, manufacturing testing and reporting are meet internal, external industry and safety requirements and/or standards. Responsible for establishing quality procedures and direction which are essential for assuring high levels of on-going customer satisfaction, and for implementing and maintaining the relevant certifications and qualifications including Quality Management Systems (QMS) compliance at the plant level.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Liaison between glass associations and third party certification programs.

  • Provides guidance on compliance to industry standards.

  • Liaison between sales and quality for external customer issues through resolution of quality concerns to minimize liability.

  • Investigates matters of significance with regards to quality (e.g. Large dollar value, complex issues, multi-supplier issues) for customer resolution and distributes Quality Alerts to all other plants when necessary.

  • May work on specialty projects in conjunction with corporate initiatives.

  • Manage our continuous improvement system of employee-based process and audit teams.

  • Direct, delegate, & coach employees to achieve plant objectives.

  • Manage the audit process to ensure all processes comply to QMS.

  • Perform and support external supplier and OBE audits.

  • Coordinate to ensure that a training process is in place for communication of new and modified work instructions to relevant personnel.

  • Maintain and effective working relationship with other departments within OBE.

  • Serve as a Quality representative to promote and improve awareness, visibility, and communication of quality initiatives.  Support departmental, functional, site, divisional and corporate quality goals, and priorities.

  • Define and track quality assurance metrics.

  • Provide leadership in the development and maintenance of material specifications, ensure specifications meet or exceed industry standards.

  • Train and direct QA and production resources to perform inspection and test activities on key product and process characteristics in a timely manner.

  • Regular and predictable attendance, safely perform tasks and adherence to all safety policies and procedures are essential functions of your job.


  • 3+ of previous experience in quality management or continuous improvement.

  • Experience with Windows Based Software.

  • Intermediate experience in Word, Excel and Access.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate professionally with people at all levels in the organization and external contacts.

  • Ability to develop and document processes.

  • Working knowledge of InfinityQS / Proficient process control software is desirable.

  • Must be able to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and be flexible in working on multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Some travel may be required.

  • Bachelors’ degree or equivalent experience preferred but not required based on experience.
