As a Security System Database Administrator, you will be the primary administrator for several databases and systems used by the Security & Safety team to support daily operations. You will be responsible for maintaining the integrity and performance of the information systems in support of department functions. You will be the primary contact between Security, the Corp IT team and the system provider to ensure proper maintenance, patches and updates are completed, system configurations are properly documented, and user requests are handled quickly and efficiently. The Security System Database Administrator will work closely with the end users to keep personnel apprised of changes to information systems and will provide training on system use.
The right candidate will possess good technical skills and be good at prioritization, multi-tasking, and will thrive in a fast pace work environment. Must be able to think quickly and solve problems effectively using strong reasoning skills. You must demonstrate excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with a demonstrated understanding of office software (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, data management systems, etc.). Experience managing help desk and SharePoint forms will make you the ideal candidate.
Identify user needs to create and administer databases and information systems
Ensure that the information systems operate efficiently and without errors
Make and test modifications to the information systems when needed
Perform tasks associated with the daily maintenance and account administration of the information systems / databases
Merge and/or migrate data from old database systems into new or updated systems
Perform routine backups of database systems and conduct periodic tests to ensure data can be restored when needed
Ensure that organizational data repositories are secure
2-4 year experience in similar System DBA environment
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in an information- or computer-related subject.
Database administrators need an understanding of database languages, the most common of which is Structured Query Language, commonly called, SQL. Most database systems use some variation of SQL, and a DBA will need to become familiar with whichever programming language the firm uses.
Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, Power Point
Excellent customer service skills. Must be able to work with internal and external customers and vendors in a professional, courteous manner
Ability to enforce policies in a professional and personable manner
Ability to show initiative
Ability to work well under pressure and multi-task. Able to adjust priorities in order to respond to urgent alarm conditions and events.
