Job Purpose

The GIS Mapping Coordinator shall support the Mapping Supervisor overseeing Mapping personnel involved in the collection and input of mapping data into the National Grid GIS Applications to ensure safety and to achieve Line of Sight goals.

We are hiring an Associate Coordinator, Maps and Records, Location: Providence, RI

Key Accountabilities
  • Reports to the manager of the Mapping Department
  • Assist Supervisor of Mapping with training, monitoring, developing personnel, as well as other varied assigned duties in the GIS Maps and Records department as required.
  • Review, approve and post maps and records projects
  • Responsible for updating and maintaining the backlog databases daily into National Grid GIS applications to ensure timely delivery of information and safe operation of public gas facilities while meeting regulatory requirements and maximizing cost recovery returns.
  • Generate and update various reports as required to monitor performance against Line of Sight deliverables which include Safety, KPI’s & Compliance metrics.
  • Maintain Record Retention database & prepare and process Maps & Records Historical documents as well as others for storage as required by National Grid policy.
  • Assist Supervisor of Mapping in Performance Excellence. Ensuring the Department is meeting requisite goals, identifying concerns and causes of deficiencies, and recommending and implementing improvement opportunities in Maps & Records.
  • Assist in the design and development of quality assurance/quality system practices and procedures in upstream gas Workorder processes to drive improvement on cycle time deliverables.
  • Support other areas within the Mapping Department as required

  • Associate degree in an Engineering discipline OR in lieu of a degree, equivalent work experience required.
  • Ability and experience to supervise in an Automated Mapping/GIS environment.
  • Desired: 5 years experience in Mapping, Engineering, or Geographic Information Systems (GIS), in a supervisory or drafting capacity.
  • Demonstrated supervisory skills necessary to direct, motivate, instruct and develop bargaining unit personnel in the operation and maintenance of electronic and manual mapping and information systems.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the varied Company electronic and manual mapping and record systems as well as knowledge of map symbols, practices and standards.
  • Knowledge of federal, state and municipal codes and regulations and company standards and policy.
  • Possess sound interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license required with a safe driving history.
