HII – Mission Driven Innovative Solutions Inc. (HII-MDIS) provides mission-critical engineering and technical service to Information Technology, Federal Civilian, and National Security, Aerospace & Defense and International government and commercial customers at over 100 locations worldwide.
Our Columbia, MD office is currently seeking a Field Service IT Technician. Candidates must be willing and able to deploy for 90 day tours to Afghanistan and work up to 7 days a week, 12 hours a day while deployed. Rotations will include 90-day tours OCONUS with 180-day breaks CONUS. Candidate may be required to deploy OCONUS multiple times during the year.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Will supply Information Technology support to Government-Owned Contractor-Operated IT systems based out of a Department of Defense facility in Afghanistan.
Installation, configuration, repair, moves/add/changes, and integration of new and existing computing hardware, software, networking, telecommunications, and other computer-related technologies and peripherals.
Basic network support ensuring full connectivity of desktop and other networked peripherals, troubleshooting and resolving user and site networking issues.
Evaluating information system (IS) threats and vulnerabilities to determine whether additional safeguards are needed for a wide range of IS security related areas including architectures, firewalls, electronic data traffic, and network access.
Assessing changes to an IS by performing periodic self-inspections, tests, and reviews of the IS program to ensure that systems are operating as authorized/accredited.
Performing preventative maintenance and setup for a variety of computer related equipment and locations.
Providing responsive customer-centered quality support and service ensuring the highest levels of customer satisfaction.
Addressing and/or resolving IT incidents/service requests promptly and completely.
Assisting with the creation and maintenance of local site IT systems documentation.
Performing on-call "after-hours" support as required to meet site and mission needs, and traveling to remote locations worldwide with relatively short notice.
Qualifications and Experience:
Active Secret clearance.
An IT or IT-related bachelor’s degree coupled with a minimum of two years’ applicable experience supporting the military or Intelligence Community.Six years’ applicable experience in lieu of degree.
Must maintain deployment-ready status, to include physical requirements and passport.
Willing to work extremely long hours in adverse conditions all hours of the day and days of the week, as well as travel to remote sites.
Able to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds, as well as support other physical requirements as deemed necessary.
Must be DoD 8570 compliant, with the minimum of a Security + certification.
Experience includes comprehensive trouble-shooting skills with various hardware and software products, to include: 32-/64-bit Windows platforms (desktop and laptop), system and network encryption, wired & wireless equipment, VoIP, Citrix, VPN, desktop firewall, McAfee Antivirus, MS Windows, MS Office, and Linux Redhat/SUSE.
Security Practitioner (CASP) and/or other equivalent security certification, Cisco, MCSE (Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert), MCSA (Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate) or LINUX certifications a plus
Must possess and maintain an active Secret clearance.
