Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is recruiting for Solar Module / Panel Installers. Wood has upcoming Solar Power projects in Virginia (Chase City, Emporia, Clover and other sites to follow). Our Renewables Construction group is experiencing tremendous growth ! We offer outstanding benefits, good pay, and career opportunities. Solar project experience is a plus. Reporting to Foreman and Supervisors. Working closely with other co-workers on un-even terrain. Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions.

POSITION OVERVIEW
Preferred mechanical ability experience. Must have the ability to read and interpret instructions and documentation. The level and degree of job responsibilities and requirements vary depending on months of experience

SUMMARY
Install solar modules / panels equipment according to layout plans, blueprints and other drawings in industrial establishments.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy. Apply shop mathematics to solve problems. Use logical step-by-step procedures in work. Plan work and select proper tools. Compare and see differences in the size, shape and form of lines, figures and objects Visualize objects in three dimensions form plans and drawings. Make decisions based on measurable criteria. Perform a variety of duties, which may change often. May be required to work at heights without fear. Basic knowledge of low voltage wiring may be required. Must have the ability to pass all project testing requirements.

TECHNICAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Must have experience in mechanical installations
  • Experience in general construction and ladder work
  • Ability to lift and support heavy objects up to 50lbs. in a repetitious pace for a schedule work day
  • Have good communication skills
  • Good at problem solving and implementing ideas
  • Must have experience with all types of hand-held and power tools
  • Must be capable of working in extreme weather conditions
  • Experience and training needed with mounting and leveling solar panels to structures
    Use effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Be capable of listening and communicating with other supervision and employees
    Be motivated and work safely and productively
  • Understand and respond accordingly to all safety alerts, warnings, hazards, etc

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • May be required to lift and carry items weighing no more than 50 pounds
  • Must possess enough strength and stamina to perform the technical duties and essential functions as identified above
  • Must be able to move in and around confined spaces and uneven areas
  • Must have full range of motion consistent with age
  • May be required consistently to work 12-hour shifts performing construction based labor in varying temperature extremes and conditions
  • May be required, on occasion, to work up to 16 hours in a single shift
  • Must be able to climb and maintain balance on stairs, ladders, scaffolds and steel framework
  • Must be able to adequately hear and respond to voice commands, alerts, and alarms
  • Visual acuity and depth perception consistent with that required to work at heights and on uneven surfaces, differentiate between colors on signage, and perform essential duties of position
  • Frequently - Standing, Walking, Squatting, Kneeling, Bending, Twisting, Climbing
    Occasionally - Crawling
