Are you a self-motivated, enthusiastic, driven individual? Then we have the job for you! Georgia-Pacific is seeking a safety-oriented individual to join our team as an Electrical Technician in Fort Dodge, IA. This is a highly skilled hourly position requiring a thorough understanding of safe work practices, troubleshooting, and maintenance of manufacturing equipment. 


 

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:


  • Ensuring the facility's electrical systems are operating reliably, efficiently, and in compliance with all electrical safety regulations

  • Implementing value creating industrial process and motor controls utilizing divisional standards

  • Assisting in the implementation of division engineering standards and participate in facility evaluations for technical improvements

  • Pursuing and implementing solutions to repetitive equipment deficiencies

  • Providing expertise to solve problems and implement changes by installing new, or modifying existing, equipment and systems that support the improvement of safety, efficiency, reliability, waste reduction and increased machine utilization


 

What You Will Need:



Basic Qualifications:


  • A minimum of two (2) years of electrical maintenance experience in an industrial or military environment

  • Experience with basic PLC programming skills and ability to understand ladder logic

  • Experience with 3-phase motor controls, 480V A/C systems, and low voltage D/C systems 

  • Experience with maintaining and troubleshooting plant electrical distribution systems

  • Ability to read/understand electrical schematics (i.e. one-line diagram, controls drawings)

  • Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment

  • Experience with industrial control circuits


 

What Will Put You Ahead?



Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience demonstrating effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

  • Industrial electrical systems troubleshooting, electrical construction techniques, Allen-Bradley ControlLogix programming, HMI Development (GE iFix), Variable Frequency drives, servos, network systems experience

  • Experience with MP2 CMMS

  • Knowledge of electrical safe work practices such as NFPA 70-E Electrical Safety Standard

  • Ability to analyze and repair components using conventional and digital multimeters, voltmeters, ohmmeters, and hand tools
