Job Description:

Arcadis is currently searching for a Principal Drainage Engineer - Stormwater Department Manager with at least 10 years' experience, to join our Transportation Stormwater team in Atlanta, Georgia.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated senior engineer to join our team with support from one of the best consulting firms in the country. The Stormwater Department Manager will utilize their expertise and technical knowledge of design & construction to work with and lead a strong nationally recognized technical staff with a proven reputation for excellence with clients to successfully execute projects within the Transportation industry to help grow our practice.

Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Manage a team of 10 drainage engineers.


  • Manage workload distribution for Atlanta staff and assist in coordinating nationwide workload.


  • Assist in proposal development. Establishing scope of work and budgets.


  • Meet with clients and project managers and act as the team's drainage engineering representative for design and construction issue.


  • Perform Quality Control and Review of drawings, specifications, reports, and other project deliverables while working with other disciplines within the project team.


  • Lead in making technical assumptions to develop concepts and approaches to complete assigned work.


  • Lead a team to successfully deliver the project on-time and within the assigned budget.


  • Serve as Engineer of Record for work completed under candidate's direction.


  • Supervise and review work done by junior staff.


  • Research feasibility of alternative design approaches, site conditions and regulatory agency specifications.


  • Work effectively in team situations and establish strong relationships with other teams where overlap of client project work exists.


  • Work directly with a variety of engineering disciplines, office / project staff, client and sub-contractors, throughout the project life cycle to coordinate meetings, conduct effective client presentations and prepare written reports.


  • Manage the production of engineering design reports, proposals, construction drawings, specifications, bid packages, and cost estimates for projects.


  • Serve as a Task Manager / Project Engineer to develop and manage budgets, schedules, deliverables, project plans, permit checklists, scopes of work and coordination of timely completion and submission of projects.


  • Some travel may be required to support client, pursuit and / or project needs.


Key Attributes:


  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written; skills to include; public speaking, ability to work as part of a team, preparation and development of technical documents, prior client involvement and / or relationship skills as part of the project team.


  • Leadership experience; as design / technical leader or through mentoring of others.


  • Experience preparing, reviewing and approving project drawings, specifications, schedules and cost estimates.


  • General knowledge with StormCAD, PondPack, HEC-RAS, SMS, SRH2D, SWMM, and HY8.


  • Functional experience with MS Office applications.


  • Excellent working knowledge of FEMA regulations.


Required Qualifications:


  • 10 years of experience, including 3 years in a supervisory role.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.


  • Professional Engineer License.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Professional Engineer in GA, NC, TN, FL and TX.

  • Experience with water quality implementation for linear project.
