As the Infrastructure Architect you will identify opportunities for improvement of existing IT technology by researching emerging technology trends and evaluating the IT architecture in light of changing technologies and business needs. You will develop strategies required to migrate from existing IT technologies to target infrastructures. You will lead new technology integration via requirements analysis, proof of concept, design, and implementation. You will utilize your expertise to conduct technical studies and evaluations of business area requirements and recommending appropriate technological alternatives for IT environments for business applications supported. Additionally, you will coordinate IT technology decisions with directions set by ITaP and University strategic plans.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, technology or related fields
At least eight years of experience in IT infrastructure design and architecture across multiple distributed computing technologies, including server, security, network and storage technologies
In lieu of degree, consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience
A minimum of five years direct customer and/or stakeholder engagement experience
Experience developing solutions to support application development, system integration, and consolidation initiatives
A proven ability to influence an organization and its strategic direction
Ability to communicate and work with people at all levels of an organization, manage multiple projects and priorities with deadlines, respond quickly to changing situations, and work well under pressure while maintaining individual and team effectiveness
Broad and deep knowledge of IT infrastructure components, including server platforms, databases, networks, and storage environments
Knowledge of Information Systems security principles in enterprise data centers, service provider and cloud environments
Must work well in team environment and be able to build consensus across all stakeholders with demonstrated ability to facilitate discussion between technical and non-technical staff
Ability to lead and facilitate the design of systems for high availability, security, manageability, and meet service level targets
