Job Description:

This position will provide ongoing data and analytical support within the Medical Economics National Contract Analytics team focused on national vendors and initiatives related to the Medicare Business.  The Medicare National Contracting team is a relatively new area therefore the right candidate will enjoy working with others to determine appropriate way to pull/summarize data, and build analytics / trending from the ground up with guidance from other teams/business partners. 


  • Work as a consultant to the business to understand their reporting and analytic needs for National Supplemental Vendors.  This entails ensuring the appropriate metrics are identified, and timing of those metrics (quarterly / yearly / annually) and level of analysis are appropriate.  Once agreement is reached, prioritize the requests, build out the reporting, and meet with the business on a regular basis to review results/trends seen within the data.

  • Work with internal contracting partners and external vendors to set yearly rates on Supplemental contracts by providing current financial health of the program, and project future rates to aid in negotiations.

  • Work internally to update negotiated rates in systems to feed downstream for payment.  This process is manually today and looking for the right individual to help automate it and work with internal partners to streamline the process.

  • Review financials and reporting for new vendors and new programs.

    • New Vendors for existing programs : Individual will compare potential new vendor to existing vendor from both a financial and utilization reporting perspective

    • New Vendor for New program: Determine appropriate rates for new programs through analysis of data internally gathered or through discussions with vendor (depending on the benefit).  If new program is put in place, work with the business to understand utilization metrics needed and reported out at regularly utilization review meetings.


  • Strong analytical skill set required with previous experience pulling, querying, analyzing and reporting on very large amounts of data

  • Advanced data query and analytical skills using tools such as SQL and SAS Enterprise Guide

  • Advanced Excel experience- V lookups, Pivot tables, etc.

  • Familiarity with concepts in provider contracts & contract modeling

  • Ability to partner with stakeholders in a consultative manner including strong oral and written communication skills

  • Strong knowledge of systems, processes and methodologies and ability to communicate those to technical and non-technical audiences

  • Proven ability to work independently while also fully leveraging matrix relationships

  • Able to think critically and improve processes to optimize results
