We are seeking a Senior Accountant at our Corporate Headquarters in Atlanta, GA to support our Accounting Services team. This position will be responsible for a variety of accounting duties for the Building Products business which allows gaining knowledge and experience for advancement to positions of greater responsibility and technical ability throughout the company. The successful candidate must be self-directed, able to manage multiple projects, set priorities and meet deadlines. Strong presentation skills, analytical skills and a desire to acquire new proficiencies, are keys to this position.  Georgia-Pacific’s building products business is North America's No. 1 producer of wood panels – namely plywood and oriented strand board – and is a leading producer of gypsum products and lumber. Georgia-Pacific is also a major supplier to large do-it-yourself warehouse retailers.


A Day In The Life Typically Includes:


  • Process and report finished good inventory

  • Perform balance sheet account reconciliations

  • Support month-end closing activities

  • Work with internal/external auditors to assist with requests/questions

  • Provide reporting and review results with internal customers to assist with questions

  • Support LIFO calculation process and preparation of tax paperwork

  • Participate in special financial projects and process improvements initiatives


What You Will Need:

Education Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance or Business; earned with a GPA of 3.0 or above

 Basic Qualifications:  

  • At least 3 years of accounting or financial analysis experience

  • Understanding of general accounting functions (i.e. general ledger, month-end close, intercompany transactions, account reconciliations, account analysis)

  • Basic understanding Cost Accounting principles

  • Firm understanding of the design and purpose of internal financial controls (i.e. understanding the purpose of internal controls, identifying gaps, ensuring controls are being maintained)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Coursework including Intermediate Accounting and Cost Accounting

  • Experience working within an integrated accounting system and/or reconciling transactions between multiple systems

  • Experience working within data mining software such as: SQL, Access, PowerBI, Tableau, or similar
