Flight Operations Intern - Program Development at UPS in Louisville, Kentucky

Job Description:


Assist in managing and developing computer based training for UPS Flight crewmembers. Assist with analyzing proposed training projects and use an Instructional Situational Design (ISD) methodology to determine the appropriate level of training required to transfer the skills and knowledge to the target audience.  Organize studies and analyze training and operational data to test and support the proposed ISD and validate the results.  Assist in managing learning content and crewmember assignments using the company Learning Management System (LMS) in addition to performing general office duties.  The candidate will also conduct Business Development tours of the Flight Training Center for current and prospective customers, including full motion simulator sessions. The hours are primarily Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Some evening and night hours will be worked. One year of practical experience. 

Key Deliverables:

  • Use an ISD process to analyze and assist in the development of flight crewmember training.
  • Learn to use Articulate Presenter and Storyline to assist in creating computer based learning content.
  • Utilize the company LMS (UPS University) to deliver and manage online content to UPS crewmembers.
  • Assist in developing training programs.
  • Assist with analyzing and updating existing training programs
  • Conduct Business Development tours of the Flight Training Center

Ideal candidate will possess the following:

  •  Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
  •  A private or commercial pilot license
  •  Basic knowledge of ISD
  •  Participates in the testing of work products and processes to identify defects, to meet standards, and to ensure effectiveness
  •  Participates in root cause analysis and problem resolution to identify issues, to prevent recurrence.
  •  3.0 GPA
  • Certified Flight Instructor (CFI), or Higher (CFII or MEI)
  • 500 hours of total time or higher, lower times will be considered with CFI, CFII, or MEI
  • Possess unique set of skills, i.e amateur photographer, videographer or video game designer
  • Have experience with different hardware platforms and software
  • Possess leadership skills or have had leadership roles
  • Volunteer on a regular basis
  • FAA Part141 flight school training or Part 61 flight school training is acceptable

Basic Qualifications:

  • Currently hold Commercial/Multi-engine Instrument Pilot License
  • Junior or Senior in an undergraduate Aviation or Business program, Or

    • Recent Graduate, up to 2 years post-graduation with 4 year Bachelor's degree in Aviation or Business, Or

    • Enrolled in a Master Aviation or Business degree program

  • 3.0 GPA or Higher

  • Be proficient in Microsoft office suite

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National of the U.S., an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. for this employer.
