OU Physicians is Oklahoma's largest physician group
and encompasses almost every adult and child specialty.
Under general guidance, manages ten to twenty staff members in the Patient
Accounts billing department. Directly
responsible for developing and implementing policies and procedures for the
centralized billing department. Manages the work of the patient accounts team,
anticipating and resolving issues, and contributing to the decision making
process. The ability to provide consistent
quality leadership establishing standards for posting of payments, collections,
claims, reception, call center staff and third party agencies. Develops
policies and procedures, communicates with other personnel, documentation.
Personnel Supervision. Manages/supervises
a team of Billing Personnel. Maintains
adequate staffing level, hires, and trains, conducts performance appraisals,
disciplines, and terminates staff. Maintains
open communication. Provides for the
training and development of all employees.
Provides discipline and counseling as needed. Ensures staff promotes positive image of OU
Policies and Procedure
Development. Recommends and causes change to new policies and procedures to
improve performance. Develops policies and procedures for the billing section. Communicates policies to internal and external
for reporting regularly how the billing and collection process is serving the
Group to maintain Patient Account Standards.
Accountable for keeping the Executive Director and Assistant Director
informed on trends and areas of concern.
Maintains working knowledge and recommends changes to Information
Systems and Contracting. Communicates with staff, Directors,
Physicians, and other departments. Acts
as the liaison between the billing section and upper management, keeping them
abreast of the performance of the staff.
Documentation. Provides documentation of all billing
Is the lead employee for the section by handling all but the most
serious disputes and dealing with difficult situations. Is accountable for the day to day operations
of the centralized billing unit.
Maintains the highest standard of training and development of staff.
As Needed. Performs
various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.
Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or closely related
months experience in medical billing, healthcare insurance, or closely related
Will accept 24 months experience in lieu of Associate’s Degree, or
60 months total experience.
