Job Summary

JOB SUMMARY

The Municipal Banking Operations Manager will provide leadership and oversight to operations strategy and setting operating standards that deliver exceptional customer service and proactively provide solutions to assist new and existing municipal clients. Drives improvements in capabilities, controls and performance, coordinating with internal partners where applicable. Establishes and ensures compliance with internal policies and procedures.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
  • Must have Bachelor’s degree, and a minimum of 5 years in an Operations Role within a Financial Institution, with increased levels of responsibilities, background and knowledge of providing banking solutions, preferrably with municipal clients
  • Proven experience developing operations strategy and setting operating standards for a business function.
  • Demonstrated experience leading projects, initiatives and driving improvements in capabilities, controls and performance.
  • Must have the ability to use discretion and make independent decisions.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy - proven ability to produce quality results timely.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and multi-task; strong organizational skills
  • Proficient understanding with legal agreements in multiple states, compliance, and risk management.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong issue resolution skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Team Management
  • Supervise, coordinate, coach, mentor, and counsel a small team on activities that proactively manage client accounts and investments to ensure the retention and development of municipal relationships.
  • Responsible for staff retention, performance, and developmental coaching.

Operations/Compliance
  • Oversee the operational functioning of Municipal Banking, ensuring operational policies and practices comply with risk and regulatory requirements; provide recommendations to the Director of Municipal Banking regarding all areas of operations.
  • Collaborate with business partners; work closely with product management and retail operations.
  • Support Director of Municipal Banking by creating executive level reports, presentations, and communications to assist with driving business objectives.
  • Collaborate with appropriate stakeholders to implement new processes / procedures and monitor Municipal Banking operational activities through reporting.
  • Evaluate and identify deficiencies in operations, collect and analyze data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and recommend solutions to the Director of Municipal Banking
  • Assess and align procedures and streamline workflow that impact operational process
  • Proactively identify and mitigate project risks with corrective action plans while working under strict deadlines.

Customer Support
  • Open new municipal bank accounts and investments with knowledge of Public Act 20 and other regulations that impact municipalities and public funds. Renegotiate rates and term for municipal investment accounts.
  • Conducts Daily transactions on Municipal Funds transactional and investment accounts following bank security and investment procedures.Engage and partner with team members and other LOBs, to connect customers to experts who can help them with specialized financial needs.
