What\'s The Role*

The Payroll Financial Analyst ensures accurate recording of company payrolls and provides timely and accurate information to employees, agencies, service providers, and Hilti teams. It will collect, audit and analyze data including taxes, benefits, and employee master data for the US and Canada. This role will also lead projects, test business processes, and coordinate with other teams to improve accuracy and processes while ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations, GAAP and ICS controls.

What Does The Role Involve*

Balance payroll ledger, research exception items, and take corrective action
Reconciles all tax and unemployment liability accounts to the general ledger and investigates variances
Assist with the preparation of quarterly and annual payroll tax reporting; research and resolve payroll/tax reporting issues
Conduct regular audits on payroll procedures and records and reconcile to the general ledger
Work closely with accounting, human resources, IT, and legal to implement process improvements and test system changes
Gather and analyze requirements, procedures, and problems to create solutions through automation of business processes
Analyze payroll data to identify trends, exceptions, and anomalies
Determine best practices relating to speed, usability, and maintenance of payroll software systems
Recommend improvements to processes, controls, and procedures
Supports the Payroll department by completing payroll processing duties as needed, including assisting with payroll tax registration and reconciliations, processing payrolls, periodic reporting, and other tasks
Lead departmental projects and priorities, including serving as the liaison to IT on system implementations, upgrades, and refinements
Coordinates third party payroll system implementations and upgrades. Interprets pay policies, (e.g., vacation, LOA, disability, workers compensation, union contracts, government regulations, withholding exemptions, etc.) and ensures appropriate amounts/deductions are calculated and applied to the various accounts correctly
Verifies compliance with federal and state payroll requirements by staying current on changes in laws and regulations
Conducts payroll related training
Support development and distribution of project status reports, dashboards, meeting minutes, action item logs, etc. to project stakeholders
Responsible for updating and maintaining payroll documentation for internal processes and training of external team members; responsible for conducting payroll related training for payroll and external team members
Serve as lead role on payroll team, providing back up support to the Payroll Manager
Acts as a subject matter expert (SME); mentor less experienced payroll team members

What You Need Is:

* Bachelor s degree, or equivalent working experience, required

* Minimum five (5) years prior payroll processing experience, required

* Experience in a multi state/multi national payroll environment, required

* Demonstrated experience in Workday and ADP payroll systems

* Knowledge of payroll policies and procedures and knowledge of taxes, laws, and regulations pertaining to payroll

* Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with internal and external parties

* Demonstrated experience with PC software applications, including Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, etc)

* Ability to organize and plan multiple activities which require close attention to detail

* Able to handle highly confidential information; strict confidentiality is a must
