Job Description:

Under general supervision of the section supervisor, the Medical Technologist is responsible for accurately performing a variety of manual and automated laboratory testing utilizing independent judgment and maintaining responsibility for assigned duties. Performs routine moderate and high-complexity laboratory testing, quality control, calibration, maintenance and proficiency testing in accordance with current laboratory procedures.

Must be familiar with all phases of the laboratory including hematology, coagulation, chemistry, and urinalysis. Experience with manual WBC differentials is required.

This is a per diem position. Must be available weekdays.

Completion of an Associates Degree program in laboratory medicine or medical laboratory technology OR Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science of chemical, physician or biological science OR Education and training equivalent to an associates degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology: 60 semester hours including either 24 semester hours of medical technology courses or 24 semester hours of science courses (6 hours of chemistry, 6 hours of biology, and 12 hours in chemistry, biology or medical technology or any combination) AND either completion of an approved/accredited clinical laboratory program or at least three months of documented laboratory training in each specialty employee will work. On or before 2/28/92, qualified or could have qualified as a technologist under CFR 493.1433 laboratory regulations published March 14, 1990 (55 FR 9538)

MT(ASCP), BB(ASCP), H(ASCP), C(ASCP), M(ASCP) or equivalent required unless qualified under CFR 493.1433
