Position Summary:

IntuitiveSurgical designs and manufactures highly-complex robotic systems for use inminimally-invasive surgical applications. Our engineering team is committed to leveragingcutting-edge research and technology to deliver innovative and high qualitysurgical robotics products that benefit patients.

Weare seeking a candidate with exceptional machining skills to develop and deliverprecision machined parts for new mechanical designs. As a member of the machineshop team your role is to utilize creativity and sound engineering judgment to supportmechanical engineers design and manufacture mechanisms for our surgicalrobotics products. You will be part of a team of talented machinists in afocused, high energy, and collaborative work environment. You should be capableof making sound decisions when faced with the time pressures associated withnew product development

We are a small team seeking askilled machinist who has good communication and organizational skills. Thesuccessful candidate should be capable of high quality work on a variety ofmachine shop equipment and must be a team player with a "can do"attitude. Roles and Responsibilities:


  • Program setsup and operates CNC mills, CNC lathes, and machining equipment by using theappropriate tools/fixtures necessary to produce production and prototype parts.

  • Fabricate parts basedon CAD, drawings, sketches or verbal directions

  • Helpwith design for manufacturability, cost, and reliability

  • Collaborate withmanufacturing to create product assembly tooling, fixtures

  • ProvideDFM support to Manufacturing, Engineering, and Purchasing

Skill/Job Requirements:


  • Proficiencyusing CAD/CAM Mastercam, Solid works experiencepreferred

  • Experience with 3-5 axis machining machines, Fanuccontrols preferred

  • Experience with Mill/Turn machining, Willimen 408MT preferred

  • Comprehensiveknowledge of theoretical and practical aspects of reading engineering drawings,GD&T

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Self-driven with the ability to excel in a high-energy, small, focusedteam environment

  • Maintain a strong sense of shared responsibility and shared reward

  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting capabilities

  • Ability to work with a variety of materials and maintain extremely tighttolerances /finishes

  • Ensure product quality meets or exceeds specifications

  • Develop fixtures and select tooling to produce part

  • Detail orientated, reliable responsible

  • Work independently and with others to achieve customer needs

  • Complete tasks and meets schedules with minimal supervision

  • A positive can-do attitude

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills


Education/Experience:

  • Min of a High School Diploma or GED

  • Min of 10 years recent experience in similar job role

  • Experience utilizing Cad/Cam (Mastercam/Solidworks preferred)
