The Hospital Senior Director of Finance and Accounting will work with a non profit hospital that has been service the surrounding communities for more than 50 years. The Hospital Senior Director of Finance and Accounting will plan and direct accounting activities within the Accounting Department. The Senior Director of Finance and Accounting will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and will be supported by the Controller and dedicated accounting staff. The Senior Director of Finance and Accounting will be responsible for the maintenance of financial records, consolidated financial statements, accounts payable, patient account receivable valuation, physician payments, internal and external financial reporting, tax returns, and regulatory compliance.

The Hospital Senior Director of Finance and Accounting will represent the Chief Financial Officer when needed. The Senior Director of Finance and Accounting will be responsible for monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures (GAAP), including consolidated financial statements and comparative analysis. The Senior Director of Finance and Accounting will provide detailed and thorough variance analysis to include net revenue and expense trend review.

The Senior Director of Finance and Accounting will identify financial issues with health system department operations and financial reporting. The Senior Director of Finance and Accounting will communicate identified problem areas to appropriate leaders ensuring that reporting is accurate and timely. The Senior Director of Finance and Accounting will ensure compliance and reporting requirements are met with all applicable agencies including external auditors and bond trustee.

The Senior Director of Finance and Accounting will be responsible for the quarterly continuing bond disclosure filing which includes management discussion and analysis and consolidated financial statements.  The Senior Director of Finance and Accounting will oversee daily operations in general accounting and accounts payable systems. The Senior Director of Finance and Accounting will review and approve journal entries in accordance with GAAP.

The Senior Director of Finance and Accounting is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Controller and Accounting personnel. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Health System’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

The ideal candidate for Senior Director of Finance and Accounting will have Bachelor's degree (B.S) in Accounting or Finance and Accounting from a four-year college or university. Ten (10) years of post-graduate Finance and Accounting or accounting experience in a business office setting. Five (5) years of Finance and Accounting or accounting experience in a hospital setting. Five (5) years of management experience. Five (5) years of public accounting experience.  Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
