The Nursing Unit Secretary is responsible for attending to the nursing station and performing reception duties and administrative duties including the requisitions supplies, equipment and services as directed.

Duties include:

* Completing billing procedures and preparing patient charges.

* Maintaining patient records and keeping patients' charts in order with all forms properly identified and pulls charts as needed.

* Preparing physicians' orders.

* Filing reports of tests, procedures and consultation.

* Copying and computing other data as directed.

Minimum Qualifications: (1) HS Diploma or equivalent. (2) Up to one year of basic technical training in office support and six months of previous experience, required. Previous Nursing Unit Secretary experience with knowledge of Meditech, preferred.

Additional qualifications include:

* Analytical skills to gather and interpret data in situations in which the information or problems.

* Ability to understand and respond to simple written or verbal instructions. Incumbents must respond appropriately to instructions, questions, or requests for information. Work occasionally requires contact with patients and/or visitors which involve courtesy.

Pay Grade: 34

Hours: 16 hours per week

Shift: 12 hour day, rotating. Weekend work required.

Location: Med A, 5th FL Pavilion, Baltimore, MD
