Military Services Group (MSG) works with the United States Military to treat and supply water and to collect and treat wastewater for military installations all over the country as part of the federal government’s Utility Privatization Program.
Primary Role
Responsible for the financial analysis and budgeting for various contracts within the Military Services Group (MSG) in the market-based business. Assist Finance Director with monthly close, budgeting, project costing and general accounting activity. Responsible for engaging and closely interacting with operations group at installations supported by MSG.
Key Accountabilities
Budgeting:
Preparation of annual operational budgets and monthly forecasting
Variance analysis of actual to budget and forecast
Track KPIs, report on variances, and provide management with recommendations for improvement(s)
Prepare monthly financial reports for presentation to Military Services Group Management team
Forecast Balance Sheet and review of Balance Sheet changes & variances.
Project Costing:
Track and analyze actual project results to original estimates. Provide operations with timely reporting and variance analysis of project financial results
Update project-costing system with new projects, change orders and budget/estimate change requests
Maintain project-costing system; close inactive projects, maintain customer lists, etc.
Monthly Close/General Accounting:
Provide direct finance support to operations (incudes variance analysis support)
Prepare monthly revenue and cost accruals
Ensure timely flow of accounting documentation (A/P, A/R, etc.)
Maintain internal controls of finance and accounting functions
Monthly P&L review and preparation of variance reports and explanations
Performs other related duties as assigned
Knowledge/Skills
Technical:
Working knowledge and use of office productivity tools (MS Office, Outlook, etc.)
Working knowledge of financial systems, frameworks and functionality
Knowledge and experience with Microsoft AX, SAP, or other ERP systems a plus.
Knowledge and experience with Hyperion software a plus.
Federal contract accounting experience a plus
Functional:
Knowledge of USGAAP, IAS, regulatory practices, and company policy
Excellent quantitative, analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent planning, time management and organizing skills
Familiarity with policies, procedures and processes related to general accounting, fixed assets, project accounting, cash management, procurement to pay, planning, HR and payroll

Experience/Education
5 to 7 years prior accounting/finance related job experience required.
Microsoft Dynamics AX experience preferred, SAP or other ERP experience a plus.
Experience with Government contracting preferred.
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics preferred.
