Position Overview

This position will provide comprehensive validation support to Proterra’s Greenville Site Testing and Validation Senior Manager and other site leadership team members. You will be responsible for providing a full range of technical solutions to client groups at the site and be in an environment where you can have a greater impact.

About the Role – You will:

• Work as the face of the company maintaining the highest level of safety at all locations.


• Be the primary validation engineering on the execution of validation activities supporting Proterra Transit activities.


• Support Validation Engineering with instrumenting installation and verification on vehicles and systems.


• Support onsite and offsite testing as required including but not limited: durability testing, chamber testing and environmental validation activities.


• Travel to support on and offsite validation requirements.


• Work in multiple environmental conditions and in thermal (whole vehicle) chambers.


• The role requires hands on involvement and ownership of assigned activities within the execution of work.

• This position will be part of the Greenville based Testing and Validation team that supports Proterra’s Engineering operations in Greenville, SC.


• You will report to the Testing and Validation Senior Manager and collaborate with other Testing and Validation team members.  


• This role will primarily support of Proterra Transit products.

Your Experience Includes:

• 5+ years’ experience in validation testing.


• Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred


• Bus or heavy vehicle validation experience preferred; test experience on vehicle, components and systems


• Knowledge of vehicle systems as high voltage and low voltage electrical, controls, pneumatic systems, brakes, and vehicle suspension components


• Data acquisition installation, testing and data analysis


• Experience with Dewesoft, B&K, EDAQ, data acquisition systems


• Solid understanding in CAN protocol (J1939) networks


• Software evaluation and tuning experience a plus


• EMI experience including but not limited to testing and collecting of EMI data supporting vehicle engineering to baselines vehicle EMI status a plus


• Proficient with MS Office applications, nCODE Glyphworks, MATLAB
