Staff Accountant

Job Responsibilities:

- Administration of accounting activities relating to customers and external projects utilizing the SAP Projects application.

- This position will be responsible for the initial project set-up, monitoring costs and resources allocated to the project, and month-end close activities as follows:

- Initial project set-up: Set-up of project controls, settlement rules, milestones and release of the project to the Project Manager in a timely manner.

- Monitoring: Validation of internal labor, consultant's labor, inter-co labor, and other non-labor & travel expenses allocated to the project. Maintains current project WBS in the Concur application, updates project milestones, coordinates billing activities and addresses discrepancies. In addition, extracts reports to monitor expired services and coordinates with the RevRec and Credit Memo team to clear deferred balances

- Month-end activities: Confirms that Project Managers have performed the 'Technical Close', performs cost analysis, identifies project that require closing, compares actual to budget, informs management and project sponsor of the project status, updates project settlement rules as necessary and executes month-end settlement process. Validates travel expenses and T&M hours to bill our customers. Prepares and validates billing uploads for select products

- Extracts reports to monitor expired services and coordinates with the RevRec and Credit Memo team to clear deferred balances

- Works closely with Project Manager(s) in addressing inquiries

- Monitors unbilled milestones to optimize billings.

- Liaises with procurement, accounts payable, & functional managers.

- Performs project profit analysis for executive management.

- Works directly with internal/external auditors

Required Experience, Skills and Education:

- Computer literate with high level of Excel and Word skills

- Strong accounting and analytical skills

- Strong communications skills (verbal and written)

- Ability to work in a fast paced environment

- Ability to establish and meet work priorities and deadlines

- Self-motivated, results-driven professional

- Dynamic, proactive, resourceful and practical

- Team player

- Organized, assertive and decisive

- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business is preferred but not required

- Prior experience in an ERP system, project accounting and job costing a plus
