Job Description

Under the general direction of the AR & Collections Manager, the Collection Specialist is responsible for managing a portfolio of accounts based on assigned Account Executives as well as other receivable activities (i.e. Collections, Cash receipts).

Major Responsibilities, but not limited to :


  • Notify or locate customers with delinquent accounts and attempt to secure payment

  • Investigate historical data for each debt or bill

  • Prepare correspondence on delinquent accounts requiring special handling

  • Prepare bill reconciliation reports

  • Excel reporting

  • Review accounts for any new developments and report to management

  • Communicate status of accounts in a clear and concise manner

  • Research disputed delinquent account balances

  • Work closely with the Sales and Customer Service department to resolve and/or assist in any customer delinquency issues

  • Assist with email responses and possible A/R functions

  • Track progress of work

  • Courier, archiving and mailing

  • Additional finance duties as needed

Qualifications :


  • Collections experience preferred, but not required

  • Excellent Customer Service (telephone skills), work performance and attendance

  • Ability to work independently and self-motivated

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Word, Excel and various databases

  • Knowledge of Salesforce, Great Plains applications preferred, but not required

  • Strong work ethic, ability to work under pressure and maintain rapport with colleagues and clients

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Great organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail

  • Excellent troubleshooting, creative problem-solving and strong analytical skills

  • Sense of urgency and ownership, possess strong decision-making skills

  • Strong follow-up skills - follows up aggressively on project/process details and has the ability to understand and develop the "big picture"
