Department Information

The Indiana Institute on Disability and Community (IIDC) is one of only 67 University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities. The Institute conducts research and training through seven Centers: Early Childhood Center, Center on Education and Lifelong Learning, Center on Community Living and Careers, Center for Health Equity, Indiana Resource Center on Autism, Center for Collaborative Systems Change, and the Eppley Institute on Parks and Public Lands.

The Eppley Institute is Indiana University's highly regarded unit that serves agencies and organizations engaged in park, recreation, and public land management in the U.S. and across the globe. The Institute is unique and houses different programs including the World Parks Academy, a program to build capacity of individuals and organizations managing parks, recreation services and public lands around the world. Eppley's programs assist organizations with training and development, planning and operations, and research and analysis, as well as managing parks, recreation, and public lands. Eppley is also the premier provider of online training and education courses for practicing and aspiring park professionals seeking to advance their capabilities and their careers. With close to 30 years serving federal, state, local, and non-profit organizations that provide quality of life services, Eppley has assisted and trained thousands of practicing and aspiring park professionals annually.

The World Parks Academy originated at the Eppley Institute and works in collaboration with the World Urban Parks (WUP) organization and other national-international organizations, to jointly implement training and development program for international and national audiences. The Eppley Institute WPA also provides virtual training, and support for national organizations engaging in the parks profession while administering professional credentialing/certification and accreditation program in conjunction with the World Urban Parks.

Job Summary

  • Support, prepare for, and attend the World Parks Academy (WPA) Advisory Board meetings, including creation of agendas and meeting minutes.
  • Coordinate training to include webinar and MOU based training initiatives of the WPA.
  • Monitor WPA Gmail account on a daily basis; correspond with individuals via IU Outlook as needed.
  • Process certification applications for the CPP and CPP-I (Certified Park Professional) including assessment administration and certificates.
  • Work with Eppley Institute staff to update the WPA website on a regular basis.
  • Assist with marketing materials such as blogs, creating e-newsletters, and other publications.
  • Assist Institute staff in the creation of a webinar-based training.
  • Perform background research and analysis to support other Institute projects.
  • Contribute to Eppley Institute's highly active collaborative team environment which is a diverse group of employees, graduate students, contractors and partners.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or GED.

Experience writing and contributing to multiple projects in diverse cross-functional teams that include project partners. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Excellent project completion and writing skills. Demonstrated ability to become proficient with virtual project work via web conferencing. Experience working in a team environment and the ability to act as a liaison between outside partners and program managers. Interest in, and/or experience in international governance, quality of life, and/or environmental related programs.
