The Chief Operating Office includes core operations functions for each of the lines of business under leaders who have joint reporting relationships. Including Front Line Control for each of the lines of business and enterprise functions, Strategy and Operations Planning, Sales Practices Oversight and Management, Enterprise Shared Services, Strategic Execution & Operations, Corporate Properties Group, Business Continuity and Resiliency, Enterprise Customer Excellence, Supply Chain Management and Chief Administrative Office.

The Business Risk and Control team is responsible for partnering with the relevant business group to identify, assess, manage and mitigate current and emerging risk exposures associated with their activities and operations. Monitors, measures, evaluates, and reports on the impact of decisions and controls to the relevant business group and enterprise function. Consults and provides guidance to business groups on the development, implementation, and monitoring of moderately complex business-specific programs to identify, assess, and mitigate risk. Consults and provides support in the interpretation of policy, guidelines, and governance programs as the front line liaison to Independent Risk Management area for moderate to high risk and complex enterprise risk programs. Provides risk management consulting to support the business in designing and implementing risk mitigation strategies, business processes and controls that mitigate risks and address regulatory requirements. Develops and implements risk monitoring and risk reporting processes and controls. Monitors and reports on its risk concentration, current and emerging risk, and risk appetite. Aggregates, evaluates, reports results and escalates where necessary.  Designs and executes control effectiveness assurance programs for Front Line-owned controls. Consults and implements initiatives with moderate to high risk. Internal interface with business regarding risk management of business-specific
risk programs.

Responsibilities include:
This person will be engaged in the hands-on development of issue related executive reporting and governance materials including Operations Risk & Control Committee, Control Meetings, and materials used with regulators.  They will be expected to develop presentations while creating routines for updating leaders on key escalation topics related to issue management. They will work in a matrixed environment that will require relationship building and consistent outreach to leadership and key stakeholder across the enterprise.  Must leverage their knowledge of risk, controls, and issue management to make connections with data and other information to translate into senior level reporting and prep materials.  This person will need to be comfortable juggling multiple deliverables at once and maintain the overall deliverable calendar for the team.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in risk management or 5+ years of financial services industry experience, of which 3+ years must include direct experience in risk management

Desired Qualifications

  • Advanced Microsoft PowerPoint skills
  • Ability to generate, review, edit, and distribute executive level reports
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

Other Desired Qualifications
  • 1+ years of experience with Issue Management
  • Executive reporting or senior leadership governance experience
  •  High level of attention to detail
  • Understanding of the issue management process
  • Experience navigating SHRP Issue Management
  • Regulatory Relations experience
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing, and communications skills with an ability to interact effectively with stakeholders and regulators, to include virtual, matrixed leadership experience and the ability to effectively manage and build relationships.
  • Excellent Communication Skills-Verbal and Written; including ability to tell the full story with a few key pieces of relevant data in a concise way

Job Expectations

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
