Job Description:

Summary:
Operation and maintenance of Diversion Dam structure, river flow, fish screen and return, conveyances to Lake, Dike and weir flow maintenance and vegetation management.
This individual will function as a working supervisor and will ensure facility conditions are maintained to meet all client and project goals.

Primary Functions:
  • Supervises processing systems to meet targets set by Project Manager.
  • Records facility operational data, maintains operational logs, prepares written reports calculations, work orders and records, ensuring accuracy. Provides the supervisor with reports on operations activity to the superintendent.
  • Performs related work as required and supervises in the field.
  • Troubleshoot causes of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic equipment failure, ability to repair components and find vendors with knowledge and experience to support maintenance activities.
  • Scheduling of staff during critical operations: Days/Nights/weekends/holidays
  • Ability to interpret prints and drawings.
  • Vetting vendors to support projects.
  • Meet with and create reports for the client.
  • Will implement safety procedures for the staff and visitors.
  • Will write Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) as needed.
  • Will conform to establish housekeeping needs and perform as a team member.
  • Must have basic computer capabilities and become familiar with and learn Oracle WAM Systems and features along with other corporate software applications.
  • Employee is responsible for assisting in training by identifying needs of personnel and will also assist in coordinating training programs and training personnel.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of O&M manual.
  • Administration: Budget analysis
  • Creation of Task Orders for Variable work.
  • Understanding and implementing Veolia policies.
  • Ability to generate and train staff on SOP writing.
  • Recommend purchases of parts, materials and supplies and evaluates equipment status and generates work orders when needed.
  • Maintains facilities, dikes and all equipment.
  • Supervises cleaning and upkeep of facility grounds, buildings, vehicles and associated equipment.
  • Supervises general housekeeping requirements as per assigned schedule or on as needed basis.
  • Follows safety procedures associated with all facility functions.
  • Maintains effective working relationships with the facility personnel, clients, Veolia staff and the public.
  • Performs miscellaneous duties and work as required and assigned.
  • Employees will participate in staff evaluation, recognition, corrective actions and other typical supervisor tasks.
  • Responsible for adherence of all safety rules and procedures and reporting any observed safety violations or hazards. Individuals are also responsible for assisting in enforcement of safety practices.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have had some considerable experience working with water and respect and an understanding of hydraulics.
  • Ability to perform arithmetic and algebraic calculations and generate computer reports. Ability to conduct meetings and direct the staff without supervision in the absence of the Superintendent.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and perform considerable walking, climbing, and moderate-to-heavy lifting and carrying.
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years experience in associated projects and facilities that have involved water treatment or power generation processes.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and practical experience
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid driver's license. CDL preferred.
  • Ability to work overtime as assigned or supervise on weekends as needed.
  • Must have the ability to keep records and make reports and be able to carry out written and oral communication.Must maintain an acceptable appearance, be honest and trustworthy.
  • Ability to perform considerable walking, climbing, moderate to heavy lifting and carrying.
