Digital Engineer II-Retail Tools at Best Buy in Richfield, Minnesota

Job Description:

Best Buy’s Digital & Technology team is seeking a Digital Engineer II-Retail Tools, who will be responsible for building highly scalable front-end and back-end components. You will be part of a team that delivers high-quality applications that support employees and interactive displays in the store. Including the digital signage, managed access solutions, and various other hardware within the store. Plus manage and design new cloud-native solutions for applications that support these solutions.

Key position responsibilities include:

• Lead and manage the development team


• Develop front end components and libraries in JavaScript leveraging frameworks like React JS, React Native


• Develop and support full-stack applications – .NET, Java, JavaScript


• Develop reusable monitoring frameworks that provide insights into the components during runtime


• Providing quality and thoughtful feedback on peer code reviews


• Use modern technology to build accessible, innovative, and highly interactive user interfaces and ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs


• Optimize components for maximum speed and scalability


• Collaborate with team members across various disciplines to solve problems at the scale


• Lead team thru technical mentoring, coaching, and work direction

• 6+ years’ experience in software development and a bachelor’s degree, or 8+ years of the same experience without a bachelor’s degree


• 4+ years’ experience as a software developer utilizing JavaScript, Java, or .NET


• 2+ years’ experience in consuming and producing REST endpoints


• Solid understanding of REST principles


• 2+ years’ experience in an agile and continuous delivery environment


• 1+ years’ experience providing coaching, work direction, and/or mentoring to a development team

• 4-year degree program in Computer Science or equivalent knowledge of programming/software development principles


• Experience working in large-scale applications


• 2 years’ experience with modern JavaScript frameworks like React.js, Redux, and Node.js


• 2 years’ experience in working in the cloud (AWS, Azure, Google)
