The Technical Leader role is to lead the Technical Resource team in the pursuit of a zero injury Safety environment through training, inspection and audits. The Technical Leader has a daily responsibility for monitoring and communicating the equipment condition of the plant and coordinating with cross-functional leaders to prioritize and plan equipment restoration and improvement projects. This person is responsible for building skills to eliminate/minimize downtime, improve throughput and increasing uptime. They are expected to manage the day-to-day administrative functions required for seamless transactions with the TR team, including leave and earnings, discipline, rewards and recognition. The Technical Leader provides technical consultation to pillar and project teams, plant-wide, and will be a contributing member of applicable pillar teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the completion of emergent and planned work, by the TR team and contracted workers, compliant with established Safety, Quality and FSMA standards through the disciplined application of audits, coaching, counseling, and supervision; conducts pre-job briefs and post-job debriefs to collect and disseminate lessons learned, expectations, job site requirements, and goals of the activity
Works with the planning and procurement staff to ensure all scheduled jobs in his area of responsibility are thoroughly planned and staged to maximize the utilization of skilled man-hours available; accountable for assigning the work to the correct TR team for efficient and successful execution
Works with the Technical Manager to validate TR team skill levels, Tier progression, and professional development by providing critical skill evaluation, feedback on training needs, and technical requirements for advancement
Provides clear and detailed communication of routine PM pillar metrics, emergent machine breakdowns, upcoming outage project plans, preventive maintenance activity strategies, and contracted vendor activities to all key stakeholders, leadership, and affected team members; this communication may take place in a virtual meeting environment, a traditional meeting/presentation, email correspondence, one on one communication, or by phone - all in compliance with the established criteria from the Technical Manager
Fosters an environment of continuous learning and technical knowledge level advancement to facilitate the TR staff in meeting the expectations of Subject Matter Expert status regarding their equipment of ownership by identifying and cultivating focused learning opportunities
Conducts documents and communicates breakdown root cause analysis investigations with all involved parties; identifies effective countermeasures to the phenomena then plans and tracks their execution
Works with the Engineering group to provide real world input on proposed projects, labor for project execution, and feedback on "ease of maintenance" project requirements
Coordinates with leaders from Operations, Quality, Safety, and Scheduling to prioritize and schedule work requiring machine down time to maximize productivity while meeting PM and operational requirements
Presides over TR shift turnover meetings to ensure a smooth transfer of information and accurate documentation of the previous shift activities, then communicates priority issues to Technical Manager
Responsible to hold individual TRs accountable to the established 5S, Safety, GMP, FSMA, NFPA, and local standards of organizational ownership
Available during unscheduled hours for response to emergencies requiring additional guidance and expertise, whether via phone, video conference, or in-person action
SELECTION CRITERIA
Education
A Bachelor's degree is preferred
Experience
At least 3 years of maintenance leadership experience is required
Advanced knowledge of OSHA industrial safety requirements
