Job Description:

The Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer will be responsible for leading process improvements in the manufacturing cells production lines. He/she will maintain reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs and changeovers. He/she will be responsible for the process flow and documentation of standard work as well as the design & validation of new tools, fixtures and machines. In addition, he/she will lead and supervise lean initiatives governed by the Altra Business System. This position is located in West Chester, PA.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead a technical team in improving manufacturing processes by troubleshooting and effective problem-solving analysis.
  • Research and evaluate new manufacturing technologies and processes, including automation and autonomation opportunities.
  • Own and assign projects to drives continuous process improvements for sustainability in safety, quality, delivery, and productivity within the area of focus. Compiles data, establishes regular communication of data, facilitates action plans and executes to complete critical actions on time and effectively.
  • Through the process of formal and informal production audits/ operator feedback and data analysis, recognizes process concerns and addresses them by developing and implementing a sustainable solution that can be tracked by quantifiable results.
  • Ensure repeatability and reproducibility of production equipment, processes, testing and measurement and analytical equipment.
  • Prepare Capital Appropriation Requests for new equipment, including cost justification and ROI calculations.
  • Compiles and writes training material and conducts training/ coaching sessions on manufacturing activities.
  • Drives productivity improvements to reduce the cost of manufacturing while maintaining quality standards.
  • Champion the company's culture/ core values (teamwork, continuous improvement, performance measurement, integrity, personal responsibility).
  • Maintain reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs and changeovers.
  • Troubleshoot complex manufacturing issues with sustainable solutions to improve Quality, Cost and Delivery.
  • Conduct Standard Work (SW), Variation Reduction Kaizen (VRK) as well as other Kaizen activities to improve stability of processes
  • Work with cross functional teams to solve and address problems that impact the manufacturing operation

Job Requirements
Critical Competencies
  • High sense of urgency and results driven
  • Strong written, verbal and computer skills
  • Ability to work in a cross functional environment
  • Familiarity with various manufacturing equipment and processes (laser welding, lathe machine, milling machine, CNC, transfer molding)
  • Working knowledge of inspection and measurement tools (CMM, Caliper, Micrometer, Gages)
  • Familiarity with documentation and process control
  • Demonstrated proficiency in time and project management

Education and Experience Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree in Mechanical/ Industrial Engineering or related field (required)
  • Two years minimum Manufacturing Engineering experience (required)
  • A strong understanding of quality systems and other process improvement tools (preferred)
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing / Problem Solving tools (preferred)
  • Experience with QS and ISO (preferred)
