The Successful Shop Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for . . .


With general direction from the Branch Manager and Office Supervisor, the Branch Office Mechanic is responsible for a variety of duties, including but not limited to:



  • Maintaining the branch vehicle fleet and other equipment by performing routine oil changes, belt replacements, hose replacements, etc.

  • Diagnose and repair vehicle and equipment problems such as brakes, transmissions, power train, power spray equipment, etc.

  • Refurbish vehicles and equipment including trucks, power spray rigs, and pest control equipment.

  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with outside vendors.

  • Supervise and assign tasks to the facility maintenance employee.

  • Manage facility security systems including alarms, fences, camera equipment, gates, and locks.

  • Maintain warehouse and chemical storage facility.

  • Keep accurate inventories of chemicals and shop supplies.

  • You must keep up to date on technical and safety training for the equipment use.

Requirements:



  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English. Be familiar with reading and comprehending written and computer repair manuals. Math skills must be sufficient to be able to diagnose and repair equipment requiring specific calculations and measurements.

  • Have working knowledge and experience in all facets of large and small engine operations, vehicle repair and maintenance, electrical systems, plumbing, basic construction skills, use of welding, brake lathe, air compressor, and other assorted shop tools.

Job Requirements:



  • You must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check before beginning work.

  • A professional appearance is required. Wear a clean company furnished uniform while on duty. Your branch manager has final say on your appearance and clothing. A pleasant personality, good interpersonal skills and ability to deal positively with vendors and fellow employees.

  • Attend regularly scheduled training sessions to obtain familiarity with SPCB rules and regulations, MSDS, labeling information, and spill abatement procedures. You will be required to drive company vehicles. A copy of a valid driver’s license and a DMV printout must be on file at the branch before operating a company vehicle.

  • Each employee is to place safety and health requirements as first importance in the performance of their work duties. Each employee must obey safety instructions, rules, policy and procedures and use provided and installed safety devices and safety equipment. You shall wear and maintain protective eye glasses, shields or goggles and respirator when applying chemicals or using power equipment, websters, hammers, saws, drills, or other hand tools.

Education and Specifications: 



  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

  • Attend regularly scheduled training sessions to obtain familiarity with SPCB rules and regulations, MSDS, labeling information, and spill abatement procedures.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk and sit. The employee is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Will work in an environment where chemicals are stored, mixed, and transported.
