Job Description:

TransCore (TRN), a subsidiary of Roper Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: ROP) is seeking a full-time Inventory Specialist to join our team based in Dover, Delaware.


Job Summary:   Under the direction of the Finance Manager, the Inventory Specialist is primarily responsible for processing all tag inventory.  The Inventory Specialist handles daily inventory and controls the movement of transponders ensuring correction location of the inventory.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.



  • Assists Finance Manager in maintaining the inventory spreadsheet in a proficient manner

  • Communicates in a proficient manner through Outlook/e-mail

  • Responsible for accurately maintaining the inventory for the CSC and the DelDOT toll plazas.

  • Tracks and records the usage of transponder inventory.

  • Monitors transponder inventory trends to predict when established reorder levels will be reached.

  • Delivery of transponders and related supplies to toll plaza service centers and third-party vendors

  • Assigns and audits all transponders that are issued to CSR's

  • Ensures returned transponders are removed from customers’ accounts

  • Tests all returned tags to determine reusability

  • Ensures defective transponders within warranty are returned to vendor with proper documentation

  • Prepares out of warranty tags for disposal

  • Supports the service center by answering incoming phone calls and aids in the mail room during high volume periods

  • Manages retail vendor information and fulfillment

  • Ensures that operations audit of transponders is completed monthly to meet or exceed the established performance measures

  • Prepares for annual audit by independent auditors

  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job

Required Skills: 



  • Familiar with Microsoft Office – Excel and Word

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Flexible and energetic with strong analytical skills

Desired Skills: 



  • Minimum of 1 year of customer service experience

  • Previous experience in some type of inventory control

Education:  High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.


Mathematical Skills:  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.


Physical Demands:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; sit; climb stairs; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.


Scheduling: Variable shifts will be required to support business operating hours.  Extra and irregular hours may be required due to temporary and/or unforeseen work demands.


Licensure: A valid driver’s license in good standing and free of DUI/DWI for three-year period prior to employment is required
