Prudential Financial is seeking a VP, IT Risk - Regulatory and External Controls for the Global Technology organization. Reporting to the VP, Technology Risk, this newly created role will lead a global, high-performing GT operational risk team focused on process, risk and control library, regulatory and external control processes for the enterprise.
The role requires a strategic risk leader, who has implemented and led effective IT operational risk governance programs across a global technology environment and worked in a fast-paced, evolving global business environment. The position will be based out of Newark, N.J.
Responsibilities include:
Partner closely with stakeholders across global technology (GT), business and functional leadership, second line of defense, and internal audit to ensure alignment of technology risk management and control programs with regulatory and company requirements
Develop, manage and maintain GT risk taxonomy and process, risk, and controls (PRC) library; integrate for use by GT and with enterprise governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) programs
Identify and validate risk exposures including inherent and residual ratings of risks within GT processes in order to ensure risks are managed within risk appetite and stakeholder expectations
Own and optimize end-to-end technology risk and control processes to determine business value of services provided, translate priorities into operational models to streamline and improve sizing and reuse of assessments that will drive efficiency
Facilitate technology work supporting SOX and SOC 1 & SOC 2 processes, internal audits of technology, external client and regulatory reviews involving technology
Identify and escalate issues and potential solutions, influence and assist business / process owners to close gaps in their controls and adopt processes that will help businesses and support functions meet regulatory and company risk management and control requirements
Manage technology risk events, regulatory compliance alerts, and other "non-crisis" processes
Engage with business / process owners to be creative and develop new ways to deliver risk & control work (e.g., automation)
Develop strategic presentations and help support internal and external communications, participate in client and regulatory meeting to represent company on technology controls
Set ambitious and clear vision for function; communicate ‘the story’ effectively to key stakeholders
Build, lead and develop a high-performing, diverse and inclusive IT operational risk team and provide oversight of management performance routines, working across business and functional lines
Qualifications include:
Minimum of 10 years of demonstrated success in implementing, leading, and executing IT operational risk processes across comprehensive risk taxonomy
Strong technical acumen and proficiency including subject matter expertise in multiple IT risk domains; knowledge of risks related to cloud, cyber and information security, computer and network infrastructure, privacy and data security preferred
Proven record in leading and driving IT operational risk initiatives across multiple functions and teams and geographies
Demonstrated success in leading through change, ability to apply cultural and local market considerations in analysis
Ability to create, communicate and execute on a strategic vision and purpose
Demonstrated ability to influence and effect significant change, including successful track record evaluating and moving forward with emerging technologies, ecosystems and new partnerships
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to connect, build relationships and influence business leaders, across all levels
Success in building and leading diverse and inclusive teams
Exceptional business acumen and strategic thinking skills with proven ability to synthesize disparate information and turn into cohesive and compelling vision/story and easily understood business language for decision making
Business and organizational knowledge with proven ability to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external entities
Change mindset with passion to find new solutions and drive out of the box ideas
Comfort working in the day-to-day details while simultaneously seeing and guided by the bigger picture
Experimental mindset to drive innovation
Ability to work well under pressure demonstrating flexibility and the ability to tolerate ambiguity in a fast-moving multi-tasking environment
Bachelor’s degree
CISSP, CRISC, CISA, and CISM preferred certifications
