General Summary:

The Crater/Forklift Operator position is responsible for packaging and preparing miscellaneous items for shipment to customers and/or vendors. Position also requires the ability to operate equipment effectively and safely, (such as but not limited to): chopsaw, skillsaw, sawzall, banding machine, heat gun, and other material handling equipment. This position will also drive forklift and move materials throughout the plant.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Identify work to be performed via SAP or MII work center priority

  • Operate material handling equipment to retrieve materials needed to perform crating operation

  • Measure materials requiring crating and design custom shipping container

  • Saw lumber and Masonite for shipping container

  • Identify and install appropriate packing material to ensure parts are not damaged in transit

  • Nail, staple, and shrink wrap container

  • Weigh and measure finished dimensions of shipping container

  • Deliver shipping container to shipping dock

  • Compliant to safety rules and guidelines during operations

  • Other duties, as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:


  • HS Diploma or GED, required

  • Between 6-12 months of prior packaging experience, required

  • Ability to operate basic hand/power tools and read measuring devices, required

  • Ability to read/interpret blueprints and/or mechanical drawings, preferred

  • Basic Math and computer skills, required

Physical Demands:


  • Must lift up to 50 lbs. on a routine basis

  • Standing for a minimum of 8 hours per day

  • Continuous lifting, kneeling, pulling, bending, etc.
