We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Vice President/Director of Development to provide preliminary development assessment and feasibility analysis encompassing all disciplines.  The Vice President/Director of Development will have overall responsibility for the oversight of the project schedule budget and financial performance. This individual will be project lead and must exhibit leadership, credibility and experience in all phases of the Development cycle.  

The Vice President/Director of Development’s specific responsibilities and duties under the direction of the President/CEO or SVP of Development include, but are not limited to the following:


  • Responsible for assessing all project feasibility, costs, operations, and forecast data to determine project progress toward stated goals and objectives; and report those assessments on a timely basis through the established channels.

  • Oversee all BDN personnel assigned to project including performance reviews for duration of project.

  • Ensures that the responsibilities, authorities and accountability of all direct subordinates are defined and understood while providing essential, interdepartmental coordination and collaboration.

  • Oversee a staff of operating professionals commensurate with the project composition, size and activities.

  • Bottom-line profit and loss responsibility for project conceptualization, planning, permitting, market and financial analysis, financing, effectively interface with design, construction and leasing functions.

  • Achieve On-Time and On-Budget project delivery.

  • Represent BDN as a visible and active member of the commercial real estate community.

  • Be thoroughly familiar with current and future market conditions that could impact project performance.

  • Understand market trends and opportunities to develop initiatives and strategies to take advantage of these trends to optimize project performance.

  • Direct community engagement initiatives and provide oversight of all permits and approvals necessary for construction.

  • Oversee design from concept level to construction documentation including Civil, Architectural, Structural, MEPFP, and all other design consultants.

Desired Qualifications:


  • Minimum of 15 years at the Director level; working experience in real estate development, including knowledge of design principals, zoning and approval processes and development team management.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Real Estate, Engineering or a related field is required.

  • MBA or master’s in finance, Real Estate, Architecture, or related field preferred
