Job Description:

Crane Aerospace and Electronics is seeking to hire a Supplier Quality Engineer III in Burbank, CA.

Job Summary:

The Supplier Quality Engineer III works with minimal supervision and uses originality, ingenuity and established procedures to support the Crane Supplier Quality Management Strategy. The Supplier Quality Engineer III is also responsible for developing and implementing a supplier quality improvement and monitoring process that optimizes the supplier performance, product quality, and business qualification with Crane.

Essential Functions:

• Partner with Supply Chain Director and other leadership team members to determine annual supplier quality objectives

• Develop, implement and maintain a Supplier Scorecard that monitors supplier quality, delivery and other metrics that track the general performance of the supplier

• Lead supplier Quarterly Business Reviews by supporting the Supply Chain team in assessing supplier performance, monitoring corrective action status, and driving supplier to continuous improvement

• Liaise with site Quality teams and suppliers to assure that quality issues are addressed and corrective actions are in place and being properly managed to assure root cause analysis and corrective action reporting

• Conduct assessments of suppliers’ quality system and process control capability, and drive implementation of improvement plans

• Train and work with suppliers to develop quality control plans for assigned commodities and drive implementation

• Conduct first article and first batch audit inspections

• Any other task assigned by supervisor or management

Non-Essential Functions:

• Prepare management reports and presentations regarding quality status and supplier performance

• Support Material Review Board (MRB)

• Actively engage and understand trends in the industry’s approach to quality and new approaches that may provide benefit to BU

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience: 4+ years of related experience, including experience in Global sourcing

Knowledge: Broad knowledge of the marketplace and manufacturing technologies; In depth knowledge of supplier qualification processes and supplier performance metrics; Knowledge of the latest quality science tools including, FMEA, GR&R, Control plans, Capability study and reduction of variations; Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models; Exposure to lean concepts (Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen Leadership, 5S, etc); Knows and applies advanced concepts, practices and procedures of assigned product or program; Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures

Skills/Abilities: Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal skills; Demonstrated analytical, problem solving/decision making skills; ability to make timely, effective, fact based decisions; Demonstrated ability to perform and produce results in multifunctional teams in a dynamic work environment; Proven ability to develop collaborative relationships and influence up, down, and across organizational lines; Demonstrated ability to plan and accomplish goals based on experience and judgment

Education/Certification: BA or BS degree in technical discipline

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Die Cast and Machining Suppliers

• ASQC certifications and knowledge of SPC

• Previous experience working in regulated environment with a preference of FAA CFR 14 part 21 and part 145

• Lean/Six Sigma certification (black belt or green belt)

Working Conditions:

• Standard office environment

• Work requires substantial visual concentration on detail

• Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment

• Manufacturing operations may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps and any other required PPE

• May be exposed to unusual environmental conditions such as loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust or fumes

• Travel up to 25% required

• Flexible and willing to work overtime if necessary

Standing: 50% *percentage is approximate and may vary depending on work task

Sitting: 50% *percentage is approximate and may vary depending on work task

Lifting (in pounds): up to 25 pounds

Pushing (in pounds): up to 25 pounds

Mental/Visual: use of computer, calculator, filing cabinets
