Director of Marketing, Consumer 

Location:  Kohler, WI


Reporting directly to the VP & GM - Consumer Channels, the Director of Consumer Marketing will lead a complete team responsible for planning, implementing and managing marketing programs and activities for the consumer channels (e-commerce, stores, Services Businesses and other direct formats).  This role has responsibility for overseeing all the marketing activities of the channel, which include brand management, marketing assets and programs, governance, market research, lead generation, and creative development. This leader will develop and drive the overall strategy, integration and execution of the marketing functions to drive performance objectives within the Consumer Channel.  This leader should have specific experience in leading digital, print, and TV marketing initiatives.  This leader will be ultimately accountable for building world-class marketing capabilities and improving the marketing investment ROI, with key deliverables that include channel strategy, campaign management, marketing operations, public relations and KPI tracking. 

As an innovative and entrepreneurial leader of a newly consolidated team, this leader will play a critical role in building a unique team culture in marketing that cultivates creativity, data driven results and a customer-first mentality with significant opportunity for continued evolution and growth.
This role will interact regularly with consumer leadership, store and eCommerc leadership, Service Business leadership, brand and category marketing partners, and other representatives as needed.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Develop the three-year strategy for consumer marketing.

  • Develop and execute programs to drive growth, managing budget and resources across business functions based on changing marketplace demands.

  • Develop a deep understanding of the brand and product to develop strategies that meet both financial and brand-building goals.

  • Manage inbound consumer insights requests and identify new opportunities for consumer and competitive research.

  • Partner with and counsel external marketing teams (brand, category, performance, etc.) on channel marketing priorities, including product placements, performance, trends and make recommendations for content.

  • Conduct measurement and analysis on the effectiveness and efficiency of existing marketing programs, applying insights to the evaluation of new opportunities. Be attuned to the competitive marketplace to ensure best-in-class programs and execution.

  • Manage creative development process, with regular insights from business leaders, for all digital and physical assets with the consumer channel.

  • Steward the customer journey by engaging current and future customers by thoughtfully crafting dialogue and experiences.

  • Drive awareness and loyalty to each supported brand with messaging through multiple online and offline channels.

  • Train and lead automation-focused marketing teams on execution.

  • Research and present trends and innovations for best-in-class experiences consistent with consumer channel and product experience.

  • Manage content calendar to coordinate initiatives across marketing channels (social, email, display advertising, catalog, print, TV, etc.).

  • Identify and execute new partnerships, collaborations and other parties for channel extensions and creative content outlets. 

  • Lead team on building a strategy for world-class loyalty and/or membership program with a focus on individual customers and trade partners.

  • Manage and develop lead generation team, with a focus on strategy, content and conversion. Manage partners on execution and content, with a keen focus on performance.

  • Present analysis and recommendations to senior leadership and business partners.


  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing or related field.

  • Eight to ten years of experience in a consumer products company across multiple channels of trade, wholesale or retail, with dedicated experience in digital marketing.

  • Five years of experience with strategic planning and/or budgeting.

  • Knowledge of advanced marketing tools and systems preferred.
