We are looking for an Administrative and Billing Assistant for our Clinical and Translational Science department. This employee provides administrative and basic accounting support to a department or group of professionals under general supervision. You will perform work that is varied and generally administrative and/or project oriented. Work occasionally requires use of initiative and judgment.
The main focus of this assistant will be billing, handling petty cash, and working with budgets and financial reports. This department works with our clinical research groups throughout UTHealth. Most documents you will handle are financial in nature. You will also serve as a backup to the front desk which sometimes handles physician scheduling. You should be comfortable working around patient billing as well as a variety of clinical documents.
This is a full time role that is classified as salaried but non-exempt. You will be eligible for all UTHealth benefits including healthcare coverage and participation in the pension plan run by the State of Texas. Your office will be loacted in the McGovern Medical School which is in the heart of the Texas Medical Center. This facility is on both the Metro bus and rail lines, and has several parking options.
Position Key Accountabilities:
Working knowledge of standard Office Software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook is required.
Use of University financial systems will be required. You must be comfortable with accounting and working on financial reports and billing.
High School diploma or equivalent.
Associates degree preferred.
Four (4) years related work experience required.
Prior experience with patient scheduling and supporting clinical professionals .
Prior experience preparing meeting materials or general financial reports preferred.
May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement.
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
