At NMG Aerospace our Product Design Engineers are accountable for improving business competitive advantage by leveraging best technologies, aircraft system expertise, and an understanding of our customer's problems to design, develop and qualify new products that are substantially superior to our competitors. Commands a deep working knowledge of specific aircraft systems, product types (ie. valves) and the latest technologies that could be used to improve these products. Mentors others in field of expertise, works with little technical oversight, and solves toughest technical problems.


Minimum Requirements:



  • Prior Component design experience in valves (Pneumatic, Hydraulic, Fuel, Solenoids, Water)

  • Ability to self-manage all aspects of the product development lifecycle from concept to reality

  • Knowledge and experience with FEA and 3D modeling software

  • Understanding of Materials and Process acceptable for use within the aerospace environment

  • Experience with "hands" on product design and development.

  • Advanced Communication Skills (verbal and written)


Preferred Experiences:



  • Experience with Aerospace Qualification and Certification Standards

  • Experience working on programs within the Tier 1 and Aerospace OEM environment

  • Functional/Operational test stand design capability


Essential Job Functions:



  • Must have a strong ability to recognize needs, risks, roadblocks, opportunities, etc. for the team and project and be able to clearly communicate these thoughts and recommendations to Program Manager and/or upper management.

  • Supports company technical strategic roadmap and product development objectives.

  • Technical lead on project / product proposals.

  • Responsible for compliance to engineering codes, practices and standards on all design to spec products.

  • Leverage experience and knowledge to ensure that our proprietary products will perform in the field as promised with minimal to no reliability issues.

  • Responsible for risk identification and mitigation plans for project / product development.

  • Leads activities related to specification, design and testing for new product development.

  • Generate and leverage I.P. for new product development, take appropriate steps to identify & protect company investments in innovation.

  • Mentor / develop future technical leaders.

  • Technical interface with customers

  • CAD and FEA work as required.

  • Ensure that product designs not only meet performance requirements, but also meet cost and manufacturability expectations as well.

  • Takes part in Co-Op talent development.

  • Supports ongoing production with troubleshooting, cause and corrective action analysis as needed.

  • Provides support for Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives, companywide.


Qualifications:



  • Advanced experience in design engineering in a manufacturing environment (10+ years preferred)

  • Experienced in Tolerance analysis and GD&T

  • Strong mechanical aptitude

  • Positive communication skills and ability to perform within a cross functional team environment

  • Demonstrated ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations based on technical inputs from multiple and varied functions (i.e. Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, etc.).



  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership for engineering projects with substantial complexity and scope.

  • Excellent technical, written and oral communication skills.

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.

  • Must be willing to submit to and satisfactorily pass any pre-employment screening required for employment with NMG Aerospace (i.e. drug screen, background check, eye exam, hearing exam, etc.) and any subsequent testing required for the position during employment.

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50 percent of the time.

  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office or shop floor to access work supplies, tools, machinery, etc.
