Handle all types and delinquency levels of accounts relative to including but not limited to Consumer Loans, Mortgages, Home Equity Mortgages, Student Loans, Credit Cards and overdrawn accounts.
Be goal-oriented and strive to achieve assigned goals and objectives.
Be flexible and available to work shifts as needed. Collection shifts may involve working both day and evening shifts that are not consecutive (i.e. 9-5 one day, 10-8 the next day). There may be occasions based on the needs of the department to alter the regular schedule as requested by the Collection’s management team.
Generate and maintain daily work queue and create and utilize reports to track and report loss mitigation data monthly/quarterly/annually, and handle collections or other department responsibilities, as needed.
Update systems records as required.
Answer telephone and email inquiries concerning delinquent accounts and provide counseling to members. Record the information on the appropriate systems, and follow-up with outside vendors.
Research and audit member records to determine missed payments and/or possible discrepancies when necessary.
Speak to members to determine reason for delinquency; using excellent customer service skills and evaluating customers' financial situations you will negotiate terms of repayment to bring account(s) current while maintaining quality and accuracy for compliance and excellent customer service, and propose loss mitigation solutions as appropriate.
What we need from you:
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Minimum four (4) years of credit union or banking collections experience, and minimum of two (2) years of loss mitigation experience.
At least intermediate MS Suite skills (Excel/Word/Outlook)
Advanced knowledge of collection and financial institution core systems and important metrics, self-motivated, problem solving, detail-oriented, and ability to ensure quality of work completed. Temenos and Fiserv experience a plus.
Good communication and telephone skills, sense of urgency, skip tracing and asset locating skills, and collection practices (including but not limited to, FDCPA, Reg X and other regulatory requirements).
Flexible and willing to work additional time as needed.
