Systems Engineer
Job Responsibilities:

Overall Description --

• Established and productive technical job delivering on operational targets within a discipline.

• Sets objectives for own work to meet the objectives or goals of projects and assignments.

• Works on a variety technical projects of limited to moderate scope with instruction; has general supervision.


• Executes tasks/assignments that are well defined, and has some guidance on scope, methodology, expected timing and results.


• Work is reviewed generally for completeness and accuracy


• Uses some discretion to prioritize work, and evaluate problem solving approaches. Errors may impact client operations, costs or schedules.

Communication --

• Communicates with contacts both within department and function on matters that require some explanation or interpretation. May work to influence parties within department at an operational level regarding policies, practices, and procedures.

Primary Responsibilities --

• Test, maintain, and monitor computer programs and systems, including coordinating the installation of computer programs and systems.


• Review and analyze computer printouts and performance indicators to locate code problems, and correct errors by correcting codes.


• Designs, develops, supports, and maintains the organization's systems infrastructure, including the implementation and design of hardware and software. Reviews previous documents and prepares up to date documents/modes/reports to meet consumer requests. Performs end user support.


• Performs IT functions such as design, analysis, evaluation, testing, debugging and implementation of applications programs supporting the company infrastructure, business processes, operations, and/or network based product systems.


• Installs, configures, and troubleshoots servers and network issues in a diverse environment. Communicates highly technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel. Recommends hardware and software solutions, including new acquisitions and upgrades.


• Provides timely resolution of problems or escalation on behalf of customer to appropriate technical personnel. Provides case status updates to management and end-users. Supports and maintains effective relationships with users.


• This position may require knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws. This role may have access to sensitive data to include PII and ePHI.


• All employees of NextGen are required to complete annual HIPAA and compliance training.


• All employees of NextGen are required to read and accept code of conduct upon hire and annually thereafter.


• This position may have potential responsibility for SOC-II

Education:
Required:

• Bachelor's Degree (four year college or technical school) Preferred, Field of Study: Computer Science or related field

Experience:
Required:

• 2 plus years of experience with systems planning, security principles, and general systems management.


• Can perform multiple tasks on large projects.


• Applies technical skills/analysis to solve problems effectively.


• Demonstrates mastery over semi-routine assignments.

Certifications & Licenses:

• Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) and Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) preferred

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Experience in Storage Area Networks (EMC, Dell, IBM), Virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V), Application Delivery (Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop and NetScaler), Backup and Recovery (Veritas NetBackup and Backup Exec), as well as Cloud Computing Services: AWS and/or Azure, SolarWinds
