Tax Manager - Employee Benefits Group

EisnerAmper has experienced significant growth and is seeking a retirement plan manager who understands and works in defined contribution plan third-party administration and tax compliance for our Tax, Employee Benefits Group. You will work with management, the team, and our clients on various multi-layered issues relating to defined contribution retirement plans' annual plan contributions, nondiscrimination testing preparation and corrections, and annual Form 5500 preparation and filing. You will also assist managing staff providing the third-party administration services.

At EisnerAmper, we provide tax compliance, advisory, and advocacy services for a diverse client base that includes the retirement plans of corporations and partnerships of all sizes, as well as high net worth individuals and families, and other operating entities. While some clients operate entirely based in the U.S., many have international interests.

Responsibilities and Skills


  • Perform calculations and analysis of employer contributions (top heavy, cross-tested, etc.)

  • Perform nondiscrimination testing (coverage, ADP/ACP, etc.)

  • Understand and manage large census data files and calculations with Excel

  • Understand and work with our financial statement auditors on the preparation of Forms 5500

  • Research and consulting regarding plan operational failures under IRS and DOL programs

  • Plan design, plan document interpretation, and review of plan documents

  • Assist the partner-in-charge of group with marketing, new business proposals, annual staff reviews and performance

  • Clear and effective communications with clients and team members

  • Knowledge of retirement plans with respect to tax areas such as self-employment income and entity level deductions

Basic qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Mathematics, or equivalent field

  • 5 + years of progressive experience

  • 3+ years of supervisory experience, mentoring, and counseling associates

  • Broad experience in a consulting environment, excellent client management, writing, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to conduct tax research into complex client issues.

  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills.

  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills, resourceful problem solving, and organization.

  • Comfortable with virtual work environment.

  • Ability to identify needs within an organization and a plan to adapt to meet them accordingly.

Ideally, you'll also have


  • ERPA or CPC credentials

  • Knowledge of defined benefit plans and U.S. controlled group non-discrimination testing
