Quidel is searching for aQuality Control Technician tojoinourAthens, Ohio based team.The Quality Control Technician performs mid- to high level technical tasks such as antibody testing as well as occasional basic technical tasks such as document control, maintenance of work areas and inventory control in all three areas of the Quality Control Department. The QCT II will be expected to rotate to all areas and maintain proficiency in all areas such that re-assignment will be seamless when there are changes to workload and/or company focus.

Additional responsibilities include -

Scanning live cell lines for conformity; non-conforming product disposal; spore strip testing to assure sterility of product; management of primary cell lines; freezer vial testing to ensure viability and concentration; swab kit checks for accuracy; laboratory maintenance activities; Direct Fluorescent Antibody (DFA) testing; product sterility testing; weekly virus performance testing; positive controls/panel testing for viability, concentration and accuracy; raw material testing; control slide testing for accuracy; antimicrobial testing for sterility and function; frozen cell line testing for viability and function.








Education and Skills:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's level degree in science required, or equivalent combination of relevant work experience and education.

  • Prior experience in QC related activities in a medical device and/or high-volume manufacturing environment preferred.

  • Experience working with a microscope required.

  • Has performed at the QCT I level and has met the requirements for advancement to QCT II (required for internal advancement only).

Knowledge/Skills:


  • Computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheet creation and manipulation, report generation, email, etc. required.

  • Basic report writing skills required.

  • Experience with molecular and ELISA techniques preferred.

  • Multi-tasking and prioritization skills required.

  • Strong communication and people skills required.

  • Knowledge of quality systems and regulations for medical device industry preferred.

  • Working knowledge of QC systems and non-conforming material handling requirements preferred.

  • Knowledge of aseptic technique is required.
