Position Summary:


Due to promotions, Carestream Health has 2 exciting opportunities for Buyer Planner at its Ridge Road, Rochester, NY manufacturing facility. If you have or have contemplated a career in Supply Chain or Purchasing, this is a great opportunity.

The Buyer Planner:

o Provides purchasing support at an advanced level by:

* Assessing material requirements plan and developing purchasing plan that supports services level while maintaining inventory targets.

* Establishing planning parameters at the item level that aligns with ABC stocking strategies, MRP, Kanban and Reorder Point replenishment strategies.

*Communicating to suppliers through material forecasts, purchase orders, expedites, GR/IR reconciliation, EDI, more.

*Working with Engineering and other Buyer Planners on engineering change process and establishing effectivity dates.

*Collaborating with Manufacturing/Operations on determining supply risks and mitigation plans. Determining root cause to line outs, developing and implementing containment plans.

*Working with quality to disposition defective stock.

oTranslates MRP to purchasing requirements. Communicates supply readiness, risks and issues to stakeholders - collaborates with Finished Item Planners to understand; troubleshoot and align with MPS.

oAnalyzes MRP data, and other relevant factors to assess complex supply risks.

oEnsures that Kanban signals and MRP reflect shifts in demand requirements.

oIdentifies key risks to supply chain and impacts to supply continuity - develops resolution and/or mitigation plan.

oRuns routine MRP and detailed reports to determine purchasing actions to take. Queries data to assess trends and risks to determine root cause. Analyzes data and provides daily updates on supply status and line outs to stakeholders.

oMay take a lead role on resolving complex high impact supply issues with through expediting with suppliers, negotiating with Service Parts Planning, Commodity Management and/or working with Engineering to determine alternative supply solutions.


Required Skills & Education:


o Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in related field

o Effective communication skills

o Project management skills

o Strong analytical skills

o Ability to multi-task; make quick decisions; act

o Taking ownership of issues and driving resolution

o Assertiveness when communicating expectations and follow up

o Independent thinking and decision making - low monitoring costs

o Strict adherence to company Policy and Controls for Purchasing

o Professionalism

o Adaptable; can handle a heavy work load; 80/20 rule


Desired Skills:


o 3+ years of work experience in production planning or purchasing, ideally in a manufacturing environment

o SAP experience preferred, but other equivalent ERP/MRP applications experience will be considered

o Microsoft Windows Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Project)

o Proficiency in planning and purchasing with MRP/ERP systems (SAP preferred)

o Familiar with Kanban and other lean methodologies
