Cost Accountant at Coherent in East Granby, Connecticut

Job Description and Responsibilities:

As a Cost Accountant for Coherent you will play a key role in supporting the Finance Department. Responsibilites include:

• Assist in month-end closing, prepare journal entries, and prepare monthly detailed COGS account analysis and reconciliations


• Reconcile and analyze inventory, forecast and report WW inventory levels and inventory reserve levels


• Calculate and maintain cost standards for materials and labor/OH; monitor and approve cost rolls


• Coordinate with Planning department for work order variances closing


• Assist with government accounting which includes billing and rates calculation


• Analyze cost accounting data and audit cycle count/physical inventories


• Maintain internal control documentation and test internal controls


• Prepare reports and conduct Excess and Obsolete inventory review meetings


• Support and assist internal department reporting requirements such as audit schedules, forecasting and others


• Assist Controller on special projects as needed

Education and Work Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent work experience


• At least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing industry


• ERP experience required, Oracleand Hyperion preferred


• Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office products


• Ability to analyze and reconcile complex accounts and reserves


• Strong organizational and communication skills


• Detail oriented
